Guide To Movie or Picture Threads
How To Post... Making Screenshots & HJ-Split
_____________________________________________________________________/

The following is a guide to simplify and provide quick straight forward details to members interested in posting a Movie or Pictures properly and to the forum rules.

Posting a Movie or Pictures is not difficult, this guide is mainly focused on the homemade sections and to get everyone posting properly.

Before you begin, make sure you have read the forum rules. ==> The Forum Rules

The first step is to check and prepare your material...

1.) There are several file types that can be uploaded...

* Pictures: gif, jpg, png, bmp, jpeg
* Movies: avi, mpg, mpeg, ram, rm, mov, wmv, viv
* Other: txt, 001, 002 ...etc (for movies splitted with HJ Split)

The following is for Movie Posts...

2.) Make Screenshots of your Movie... Screenshots are not required, but without them you need to provide a good description in your first post including the action, content, breed & gender your movie contains, the thread title is not a good description, make a short story of it in your first post.... (See How to make Screenshots in the next post below)

3.) If it's a Movie your wanting to post, does the file size exceed 9.77mb ? ...You can simply check by moving your pointer over the file, if it does exceed the limit, then you need to split up the movie into smaller sections... (See using HJ-Split two posts down)

4.) Collect file details from your movie. The details should include the minimum of the following and be included on your first post...

=> Length of the Movie (minutes/seconds)... (ie:) Running time ~ 2 min - 20 sec.
=> Full file Size... (ie:) 18mb in total
=> Size of individual files (If split up)... (ie:) 4 files @ 4mb each, last one 2mb.

* The reason for posting this information is so the downloader can be sure the clips fully downloaded and confirm that.
* If your files are AVI's and you know the Codec used, it helps to add that as well.

Now your ready to post your Movie or Pictures...

1.) First off, you need to select the proper forum to post your material and be in that section when you select "New Topic" at the bottom of the screen. Each forum has a description of what kind of content is to be in it... Check it closely & make sure it comply's with the rules.

2.) Give your new Thread a Good Title that includes what your thread contains.... (ie).. "Female With Male Dalmation Movie".... Follow that up with the next line and give a discription of the action taking place.... (ie).. "Mounting, Close up, Licking"

* The better the title the more members you will attract and the more votes you will receive, quality threads get votes.
* No Foul Language in the titles, posts or file names and no underage references.

3.) In the text box type an introduction to your thread and what your sharing (details) and if it's a movie include the file details you collected on it... you can also attach the first Picture or screenshot by selecting "Browse" below the text box and locating your first Picture or screenshot and selecting it... if properly attached you will see text like: (C:\documents and settings..... ect) within the file box.

* Using the Browse feature is the opposite of finding a place to save a downloaded movie or picture, instead your searching for your own file to upload to the forum.

4.) If it all looks good... Now your ready to select "Post New Topic"

5.) When your post appears make sure everything is correct (you have 30 mins to edit) then select "Add Reply" at the bottom... (To add more to your thread you reply to your own thread)

6.) Add your next video file, picture or screenshot.

* When replying to your own thread, you need to type something or add an emoticon if your only adding a file, screenshot, picture or video Clip.
* Add Movie files in order if split... 1, 2, 3 ... 001, 002, ect... screenshots should always be posted before the movie or alternate if the files can be viewed individualy.
* Keep similar content in the same thread.

7.) Repeat steps 5 & 6 until all your files are uploaded (You can only add one file per post)

Additonal Notes:

* It is normal for the forum to freeze during uploads.
* New Members need to wait 30 mins between reply's. (be patient)
* For a Homemade Pictures only thread you need a minimum of (2) Pictures.
* Animal Only Pictures need to be posted in the Mating Section.
* If you realized you made an error, contact a moderator to have it removed or corrected.

Thank You for posting correctly, the BF staff and members really appreciate it. :)

Making Screenshots

We have many dial up users on Beastforum and it's very frustrating to them when they don't know what they are downloading or if they already have it because it can take them half an hour to download one 9mb movie clip.

The other reason for making screenshots is for all the members that get 5 free downloads a day, they don't want to be downloading something that does not appeal to them or obtain something they already have and waste a d/l credit.

Screenshots are not required, but without them you need to provide a good description in your first post of the action your movie contains.

Screenshots are very easy to make.

Here is what you do to make screenshots from your movies...

Option 1.

With Windows Media Player

1.) Start the movie and when it gets to a spot you like, pause the movie and press "ctrl & i" together, this will give you a "save image as" Window.
2.) Give the Screenshot a Name
3.) In the box below under "file type" select "jpeg" if not already.
4.) Choose the location to save your Screenshot (just like saving a picture or movie)

You now have a screenshot of your movie that you can post, I suggest you make a minimum of 2 or a couple more if your movie is longer or has multiple scenes.

Option 2.

If your media player won't make a screenshot (some versions may not) then you need to obtain a screenshot making program, there are some free ones around and one that has worked well and easy for me is "Frameshots".

1.) You can find this free program here ==> http://www.frame-shots.com/ (choose trial version)
2.) It's as simple as selecting "File" then "Open" and locating and selecting your movie.
3.) Pause the Movie at a good spot and select "Take Snapshot"
4.) If your happy with it select... "Save Thumbnail"

You now have a screenshot you can post, you may also continue playing the movie after saving the first one and make more by taking another snapshot.

Additional Screenshot info can be found in the Stickies Section

Using HJ-Split for your Movies

Many times movies are too large for a post, the forum has a server limit of 9.77mb per post. So In the case of having a file larger then 9.77mb you need to split it up into chunks that will fall under the file limit.

One of the more simplest ways and free is to use a program called HJ-Split. You can find this free program here
--> http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

What HJ-split does is take your file, duplicates it and divides it up into smaller sections, these sections when re-joined will reproduce the original file you started with.

For example: Your movie is 20mb in size... when you divide it up into 6mb chunks you will end up with 4 files... (3 files @ 6mb {and} 1 file at 2mb) = 20mb (added up and now within the forums limit each) ...less then <9.77mb

HJ-Split automatically numbers the files in order. So when HJ-split is needed to re-join the files on another PC, they all go back together the same way.

1.) When you start this program, select "Split" from the main menu.
2.) Now select "Input File" and locate your file and select it.
3.) Change the Kb to Mb
4.) Enter the maximum file size but no larger then 9mb
5.) Click on "Split"

New files will be created next to the existing one with numbers attached... 001, 002,.. ect and will look different from the original except for the first one if it's an Mpg file.

* The number of files created will depend on how large your movie was, don't worry, the orginal file is still there un-touched.
* Don't panic because the new files are not shown as a media player file and wont play, that is normal. When someone downloads your movie, they need to obtain all the files and then join them using HJ-Split for the movie to play again.
* When uploading your files, start with the file tagged as- ( .001), then your next post- ( .002)... and so on.
* Adding the size of the split file to your post helps members know if it downloaded completely.
* All the files will be the same size in Kb, except for the last file.
* All the file names must remain the same, altering the files after splitting will prevent joining, so make sure to choose a suitable file name before splitting.

HJ-Split Alternative...

There are programs that will split your movie into smaller playable chunks out there but many are not free or have limits, If you looking for an alternative and want to split many movies i do recommend Boilsoft's AVI/MPEG/ASF/WMV Splitter... The Stickies Section also has many recommended programs.
