I had an experience somewhat similiar to that, with a happy ending. I let my male GSD out in the fenced back yard to do his business. When I went to bring him in ten minutes later, he was gone. I went out back and found where he had mangaged to make a hole under and in the fence. He had literally pulled the wire fence up with his teeth, bent the hell out of it. Not only that, but his collar had snagged on the fence and was hanging there. I was completely panicked because I didn't know what to do.

I looked all that day and all night, couldn't find him. That night rates as one of the worst of my life not knowing what the hell happened or where he was. Next day I put signs up everywhere with a reward for his return. No luck. Finally on day 3 a friend suggested going to the local vets office to let them know he was missing. Stroke of luck, they had him there. Apparently, a neighbors bitch had gone into heat and he wasn't going to be denied. One of the girls who worked at the vets heard my boy doing his thing (He's a noisy lover, she said. Howling and carrying on like a banshee :rolleyes: ) and walked out her back yard to find him butt to butt with his lover girl. She said she let him finish up, then she took him to the vet office to clean him up (apparently a roll in the mud is part of the canine courtship) and they bordered him for those few days free of charge. I helped her clean her car of the muddy mess he made and we even found the owner of the wayward slut....I mean bitch.

Anyway, the resulting puppies were very cute and adorable, My dog got himself a tatoo and a microchip and I never really got to ask the vet assistant if watching them mate was a turn on for her.

A bit of a cautionary tale. If you have an intact male or female dog, (any dog for that matter) make sure to give them a tatoo or a microchip or both to help someone locate you. Collars come off easily or the tags get ripped off during a romp in rough brush very easily.
