Hi,

I am posting this in the zoo rather than the technical section cos my concerns are really more ethical than practical.

There have been a few posts on this board, and there are a lot elsewhere on the web, portraying, discussing or even inviting sex between pregnant women and dogs.

Now I am NOT a woman and I have never had sex with a pregnant woman so please forgive my ignorance and do not flame me for asking :) Is this really safe?

What i am thinking about here is the physical impact on the woman and her unborn child from the vigours of mounting by a dog.

A dogs penis is often very large and the thrusting is often vigorous and uncontrolled. I have read of women beginning their menstruation early due to the pounding delivered by a dogs cock. How can this be safe for a pregnant woman?

My friends tell me that even normal sex is tricky and a little nervy when the woman is very heaviliy pregnant.

Basically, because i am worried about the woman and her unborn child I always find talk or images of dogsex with women very disturbing, and try very hard to avoid exposure to same.

What do those in the know have to say on this matter? Mods, what is your view? Am I right to be worried? If so should this board have a policy on posts relating to this theme? If its all ok and perfectly safe then I will be grateful for having one less thing to inwardly worry about so please let me know.

As far as commercial "hardcore" porn featuring pregnant women I will always be opposed to it on the basis that a woman with an unborn child should (in a decent world) be cherished, should be in a place away from the sleaze and potential danger of the porn industry, and should not be expected to have to entertain a bunch of anonymous men. I always fear for the future of both mother and child -and the world in general- when I see the sexuality of a pregnant woman exploited and trivialised.

I was pregnant, my first time and with it being a med size dog, I don't think it harmed me or my unborn baby at all,

The only thing I would say was I was having nighmears that on my first scan it would be puppys and not a child lol

Well... I know that usually sex in the doggy position for pregnant women is one of the most comfortable positions, but even with human/human sex, it's not recommended to have viggerous sex, or any sex at all, quite late into the pregnancy, (during the last month or two), depending on who's advice you follow, . I'm pretty sure there's a risk of going into early labour... And it's never a good idea to damage the cervix or the mucosal "plug" in the cervix during pregnancy...

Other then that though, I don't think there is a major risk to the unborn child, unless the woman goes beyond her limits... I could be wrong though...

As far as ethics go, a pregnant woman is still a woman, and if she wants to do it, there's nothing wrong with it in my opinion, the fact that she became pregnant doesn't change the fact that she's in charge of her own body. :)
There are definitely women out there who strongly dislike the idea of being placed on a pedastole.

I have to agree and say I share your concerns.
There is an increase of blood supply to the cervix during pregnancy and even slow and careful sex with human partners can cause slight bleeding. Dogs simply cant show restraint when they are sexually aroused, add to that gripping claws round your abdomen, a lack of speed control and a thin tapered penis with bone and I think you have a recipe for disaster. The sheer lack of information as to the reactions is enough for me to think its a no go.
Yes women sometimes feel sexiest during pregnancy but there are plenty of other ways to find release other than risking the life of an unborn child. IMO its unethical and logic points to it being dangerous especially in the later stages.

I have to agree at least at the late stage of pregnancy (but not all pregnancies develop smootlhy so that isn't a rule carved in stone) but of course we're speaking about an Humping dog since a dildogging can't do any harm because everything is under woman's control .

anyway I bought a DVD last month it showed on the cover Andy and Violet with a horse , i vas truly surprised when I found that Violet was pregnant (maybe 4th month ) and she got penetrated by the horse , the horse wasn't mounting and she took only the top and few inches ( i believe not more than 2 or three) but I felt heavy disturbed by this although pregnant women aren't forbidden , I decided to not provide that movie , actually I'm not sure I'll take it much longer

I agree that a woman should have and be in control of her own body. However, that doesn't mean endulge every whim.

The problem is not sex its biology, once you turn your k9 lover on he goes into automatic, thus if there is a problem your in trouble.

This is just my personal opinion .... the risks far out weighs the benefit, so why risk it. You want so k sex give him a blow job. There are two many other ways to get an orgasm than risk injury to your self or your child.

I suppose if you were to choose to have k sex while pregnant anyway, it would be a good idea to have a convencing story for the emergency room planned before hand.

Porn.... The problem here is you would like to believe that the actor/actress was a consenting adult but truthfully you never know if the woman is on drugs etc. especially zoo vids.

Just my opinion..........Beverly

Unless your health care provider advises you otherwise, sex during pregnancy is safe for you and the baby. The baby is protected by the amniotic fluid in the womb and by your abdomen. We had relations right up to the night she went into labor, for both children.

Here is a brief post from the Mayo Clinic:

Is it OK to have sex during pregnancy?
As long as your pregnancy is proceeding normally, you can have sex as often as you like. But you may not always want to. At first, hormonal fluctuations, fatigue and nausea may sap your sexual desire. During the second trimester, increased blood flow to your sexual organs and breasts may rekindle your desire for sex. But by the third trimester, weight gain, back pain and other symptoms may once again dampen your enthusiasm for sex.

Can sex cause a miscarriage?
Many couples worry that sex during pregnancy will cause a miscarriage, especially in the first trimester. But sex isn't a concern. Early miscarriages are usually related to chromosomal abnormalities or other problems in the developing baby — not to anything you do or don't do.

Does sex harm the baby?
The baby is protected by the amniotic fluid in your uterus, as well as the mucous plug that blocks the cervix throughout most of your pregnancy. Your partner's penis won't touch the baby.

Are any sexual positions off-limits during pregnancy?
As your pregnancy progresses, experiment to find the most comfortable positions. There's just one caveat. Avoid lying flat on your back during sex. If your uterus compresses the veins in the back of your abdomen, you may feel lightheaded or nauseous.

What about oral sex?
If you have oral sex, make sure your partner does not blow air into your vagina. Rarely, a burst of air may block a blood vessel (air embolism) — which could be a life-threatening condition for you and the baby.

Can orgasms trigger premature labor?
Orgasms can cause uterine contractions. But these contractions are different from the contractions you'll feel during labor. Research indicates that if you have a normal pregnancy, orgasms — with or without intercourse — don't lead to premature labor or premature birth.

Are there times when sex should be avoided?
Although most women can safely have sex throughout pregnancy, sometimes it's best to be cautious.

Preterm labor. Exposure to the prostaglandins in semen may cause contractions — which could be worrisome if you're at risk of preterm labor.

Vaginal bleeding. Sex is not recommended if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding.

Problems with the cervix. If your cervix begins to open prematurely (cervical incompetence), sex may pose a risk of infection.

Problems with the placenta. If your placenta partly or completely covers your cervical opening (placenta previa), sex could lead to bleeding and preterm labor.

Multiple babies. If you're carrying two or more babies, your doctor may advise you not to have sex late in pregnancy — although researchers have not identified any relationship between sex and preterm labor in twins.

I really doubt that a penis of any sort could enter the cervix, a human's cervix wasn't designed for that. The majority of the time, the cervix itself, being a muscle, is stiff, and the opening (external os) is very small and usually flattened, being only about 7 mm. wide at the widest point. The cervix is also semi-cone shaped, projecting into the vagina, and I think that would make it more difficult as well, (the average size of the cervix is 3 cm. long and 2.5 cm wide). A lot of women also find pressure and other manipulations of the cervix uncomfortable or painful.

I don't know how true this is, but have heard that the acidic properties of a dog's semen can actually dissolve the cervical plug and cause harm or death to the baby.

I'd say I'm in the "better safe than sorry" category on this one...

The vagina is already very acidic.

Hmmm... The mucosal plug of the cervix is, like the rest of the vagina, very acidic, whether a woman is pregnant or not (though the plug is alot "tougher" during pregnancy). If a dog's semen was indeed able to dissolve the plug of the cervix, then non-pregnant women who frequently engaged in the act would be at a huge risk for uterin infections (and pelvic inflamatory disease), since they'd be lacking the protective plug... I'd think there'd be quite a large report of zoo women suffering from PID and other reproductive tract ailments.
...Just some speculation!

At any rate, there is no reason for someone to act irresponsibly with sex, pregnant or not...

Aside from the actual biologic/anatomic concerns, the thing that really concerns me in tis debate, is the implication that there is some etherial "ETHICAL" imperative involved whether an individual decides to have sex while they are pregnant regardless of the species of their partner. Isn't a woman's pregnancy the most PRIVATE condition in the world?

Just a little two cents... If you don't like it, don't do it, if you don't like to see it, don't look.

Certainly a woman who is pregnant or not would stop something that she is not comfortable with. Unless of course she was unable to stop in and then it transforms into something else.
