Need a codec? Cant hear or watch a video ?

So, there are less but frequently asked questions about "Cant hear or watch a video ?"
So, i think, you are in the need of a codec?!!
Let me help you....

in windows media player you can only hear a sound?
your system misses a codec; try out xp codec
can be found here:
http://www.codecs.com/download/XP_Codec_Pack.htm (information page about the content of this packet with download link)

another codec i have, is called "m5studio codec 7.9".
its from a developer from poland.
link to the page: http://www.m5studio.internetdsl.pl/codec.html

a last recommendation is (and that is done by deerhunter somewhere - but without "search function" there are no results that could be found ;) ):
A third version of codec is "Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0 rev.611 for Win2k/XP", which can be found at this link:
http://www.codecs.com/Media_Player_Classic_download.htm

dear mod, could you pin this topic into the movie shop, thanks!

EDIT: Of course, if you have another good suggestion or working software at your computer, dont be shy to post a comment here ;) !!

The reply that you refer to here was a simple explination of the fact that this users player classic, Like mine was out of date. Which I, Like they did, updated ours to the above mentioned revision.. It now plays MP4 and DVD..

XP codecs pack i'm not familluar with so I won't pass judgment, but will it work with "98", "ME", and "2000"???
Well it allow "RM" and "MOV" files to play without the respective player???
Ace Mega Codecs Pack 6.03 (Professional Edititon) will!!

Download and Content page:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE_Mega_CoDecS_Pack.htm
Ace is a huge codec pack (49.2MB) but well worth the time and effort.
When installed propely you can play any video on the market (except DRM) With media player classic or VLC player. For d/l and instilation accistance just pm me.. For DRM files you will need player 10..

:D Now that everyone is totaly confused I'm gonna give you one of my most prized FREE tools.

Heck if you can't play it with your player of choice the just convert it to the codec that plays for you. This tool can convert/encode any format to any format without the necessary codecs installed on your machine.. Yes it even converts the dreaded "VIV" files which only "vivtv" can play..

Have a look at the content page you will be surprised..

Have fun guys,

i cant answer that question because i never was able to try/test this combination of OS and codec-pack.... but i would guess, no, because its called XP codec???

To the poster above who couldn't find the SuperC download - just delete everything after the '.net' in the address, this will take you to the homepage of the site. From there, you can find a download link under the 'freeware' button.

Thanks to all who posted codecs and such in this thread - I've tried out several of these and they are FANTASTIC!

Thanks for your help Deerhunter. But I'm not too sharp on the PC. I found the instructions you posted to vague for me to attempt. I really do appreciate your time but what i need is a begginers guide to using the SuperC application. Thanks again for your response.
