As a result of the comments and repllies in my poll, I've decided to go for broke and give this a go.
It is going to be an enormous undertaking, but for all my friends who have asked to see just what it's like down here, I'll do my damndest to make this thread as interesting and varied as possible. I've been amassing material all day so far It will have to be done in various 'sections' to try to keep some sort of order from what could easily turn into sheer chaos owing to the diversity of material. the sections will be in the following order:- 1/ Capital Cities 2/ Suburban life 3/ Recreation and Sport 4/ Central Australia 5/ The Far north 6/ Outback Aus' 7/ Tropical Queensland 8/ Indigenous Australians 9/ Wildlife - both Benign and Dangerous This list may be added to depending on two things... A/ You want to see more? B/ I actually live long enough to get that far! To keep the thread running smoothly, I ask that you please post any questions or points of discussion at the end of each section, where I will pause for this purpose before proceeding to the next section. (I will let you know when each section is finished). If any of my Aussie compatriots feel like adding to the thread, please feel free, but again, I stress that it is VITAL you keep the topic of your post in keeping with that section only! It is now 2:30am and I've been at this all afternoon, so here's your chance to make any opening comments before I begin in ernest tomorrow with Section 1. :whistling: Errrrr...Wish me luck This post has been edited by fester3156 on Jul 13 2006, 05:35 PM |

I've always made friends quickly with the Aussies, and had so many GOOD friends from Australia. Don't even mind the vegemite. But for some reason I've never had a desire to visit. Not even a little.
Here's a good thread for it. Can someone talk me into wanting to go? My impression has always been - too dry, too hot, too flat, too dull ... and everything is poisonous. But other than that, sounds great. I wanna be a convert. Let's have it!!! |
