I was googling for "sodomy_laws" and clicked on the first link to wikipedia. From the list available, are all of these states listing all in effect? No anal penetration allowed? What type of world is this. This means no anal penetration with women, but do cops actually take people to jail for these crimes or are they just rules which nobody follows? I for one feel insulted at the freedoms being taken away, for a country I live in which boasts about freedoms, we surely leaned back to the dark age of what we were fighting against when they signed the declaration of independance. Escape from religious prosecution. :( Sodomy means, "Any of various forms of sexual intercourse held to be unnatural or abnormal, especially anal intercourse or bestiality.". Who exactly made these definitions to be called unnatural. I don't see any type of rules nature should be following. Is it just me, or does this type of trash make others very angry and want to gain political control as well? :)

Yeah they are creepy. They were just used in Texas, they got off (as it were) and they had no doubt but those :censored: wanted to drag them through the system. This culture is so in the dark ages regards sexuality

In many states where there is a large gay presence there has been some success in getting the sodomy laws repealed...

it is a hard law to enforce because you would have to witness the act or there would have to be a complaint and evidence... I think most of these laws are upheld in rape cases - to add additional charges - but I guess there are examples where they are misused...

I personally am not anal passive - but I am anal active (topping) - so I guess they could effect me - but there are sooo many other crusades... I'm not sure if we have an exisitng thread - I think we do - on some ZANY laws that still exist on the books -both here in the states - and abroad... in a LOT of the cases - no one has taken a measure to get it repealed - thus - they are still on the books...

Did not find that thread, but there was a bill made here in the early 1970's that all men above 15(!) should have their glans tatooed red.
Reason was that a person with a tat on his glans had got some sexual disease, but the red areas were not infected.
As most members of the parliament were (ands till are) men, wo did not fancy that idea, the bill got thumbs down.
Sodomy laws were removed here in the early 1970's, but there still are some other funny laws around

just to add to the creepiness, google for "vernonrobinson", should be the first link for the guy for congress. On the bottom click, "Vernon's latest ads", there is a link to "twilight zone". This is the type of people who are a threat to freedom of the beautiful country. When I was younger, I thought... "Oh hell, I don't care who gets elected". Since I've been viewing the lawbooks, and truely seeing what people are like and who is against my freedom, I've been very careful and much more willing to vote. Especially along the lines of sexual freedom. Also when it comes to the line of health care, its a must. Too bad we can't get free health care for out pets :D Dental cleanings for whem those mornings you're breathed on by your friend and you just have to throw up.

I'm offended as well. Just last night I had a conversation with a womanwho couldn't even grasp that a relationship at all couldn't be sexual, nor could she even understand, let alone make a moral judgement that any relationship could be other then monogamious, heterosexual, and for the love of pete, had to be in the same race and national origin. No wonder so many people are unfriendly and spiteful if this is the message people are getting. I'm not sure how she was able to speak to me directly without being sick (obviously I wasn't married to her. Who knows what was rolling around in her head) Society is really letting some people down. I think the laws are a reflection of that personally. Very creepy indeed, very discriminitory, and it doesn't really have a place in a free country. That conversation sent shivers up my spine, and I was only explaining to her I was married. At least if it's that tight everyone knows were they stand. New law: married persons found to not be wearing rings will incur a $10,000 fine or 10 years imprisonment, whichever is most heterosexual and same background.

Obviously as long as there is consent, (and lubrication. hehe) hell NO there should be no laws regarding sodomy!! We should have the final say as to what we do with our own bodies. It is no one elses business but ours and our partners. The government has no right to make that illegal.

Sorry, to say, based on the graft/corruption/very narrow minded/limited ability to see reality/not on some lobbyists bribery mailing list, I currently see that as a better alternative.. Cow_Poke

To add to more grief,

Anyone living in Washington State, please keep bestiality hidden from non-zoos.

http://www.beastforum.com/index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=80539

New law has been passed making sexual acts with an animal illegal. The punishment is 5 years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

History: After Stonewall, when gay psychiatrists and psychologists moved into leadership positions in the Psycholgy Associations in the late 1960's and early 1970's they pushed for review and revising of the association listing homosexuality as a mental health disorder. Many other things were re-examined inan amazingly open minded and scientific way and many other previous pathologies (such as zoosexualism and zoophilia) were re classified as benign paraphilias ( this same period produce the Hite report, Nancy Friday, and the Supreme Court revising the Pornography laws). At the same time enlightend lawyers saw that it was time to revise the state laws which sited the previous AMA/ APA standard. So, in the early 1970's many states revised their sodomy laws following the new model language of the Bar Association - which decriminalized sodomy, bestiality and homosexuality. Most natably southern states tended to not adopt the modernization. Hence there was a rather famous case of a divorse in Georgia in the 1980's where the husband was imprisoned for sodomy because the wife produced a photo of him going down on her and she pressed charges.

See if your state has a sodomy law and then ask a legislator if they engage in oral sex. If they say yes call for the police. Watch how fast those laws change.

its a lot faster to get a law made than it is to have the same law unmade. just look through some provincial (or state, depending on where you live) and city law books. there are all manner of stupid laws floating about (don't the politicians have ANYTHING better to do???)

as for the topic at hand, i'm pretty sure those are likely a holdover from the days when the church was a major force on government (and it seems to becoming on again nowadays in the US) and and the Bible was LAW (and it seems that it still is in some southren areas). and no one ever got around to removing the out-of-date laws, as they have far more important things to do (translation : "make more stupid laws for which there is no need")
