First of all, you would not be able to get colse to a wolf in nature. They are too shy and disappear, mostly long before you ever get a chance to spot them. Wolves that do not get shot, either legal or illegal.
In captivity, they would not feel comfortable with someone they do not know. Dogs may get familiar to a stranger within a few minutes, wolves are not so. If yo get close to a captive wolf, and try to get "into business" with it, you may need to use the ladies room in future. Forced, a wolf would defend itself.
Wolves are very sensitive to body langauge. If you are not familiar, no let me say specialized in wolf body langauge, wrong or hashy attitudes could spoil any contact attempt, or even be dangerous.

Dream your dreams, and keep it there.

Don't worry Dogzbestfriend, it was more like helpful advice. This forums members have dealt with a lot of.... senseless people in the past. (Not that I'm calling you senseless) But they just can't be too sure if the person asking the question has the brilliant idea of fence hopping at the local Zoo's wolf attraction.
Basically all they are saying is, It would be in your best safety not to try anything intimate with a wild wolf. Even a domesticated one unless you are knowledgeable with wolves behavior... or happen to be close with your own, or a friends.

I actually have a friend that owns a few wolves. only one pure wolf. (female) and two hybrids(1/2 Timberwolf - 1/2 Alaskan Malamute) I have been good friends with this fellow for years now. Met him while the 2 hybrids were still pups. The older female never even let me near her, unless it was to give her food, and even then it was a snatch and run situation. If I even moved too quickly around her, or her master, she would warn me off with a very convincing growl or snapping of the jaws.
The pups, (1 male and 1 female) were playful when young. I could play with them. Even pet and cuddle them. By the time they were about 2 I even tried to get fresh with the young'nz.
Once while petting the female, she had flopped onto her back and seemed to be enjoying the attention as I pet her chest and belly. So I tried to take the next step and rub a hand over her "no-no place" That's just what it was. She jumped right up and went to her bed in the corner of the room, scorning me with her eyes.
The male I had better luck with though. (What can I say, men are men. :P ) doing much of the same on a separate occasion. My buddy had gone to his garage to work on a car. Even took the older female with him, leaving me alone in the house with the other two. The male and I were rough-housing in the living room, where at one point I wound up laying on my back, while he stood over me licking at my face. I took a chance and pet a hand across his sheath. He started humping the air like crazy. That's when I got up onto my hands and knees, just to see how far he was willing to go. I was still fully clothed, but he did mount me and was seriously trying to get penetration. But I knew my friend could walk in at any time, so I had to hold off.
I never got another shot at that boy. Would have loved to though. But not too long afterward, he moved to a different area of Alaska, and we lost touch.

So the moral of my story is... it's not completely impossible I guess. If you have the wolf long enough to gain a serious trust system with. And your best chances are with a male.

I don't flame, the wolves will do what has to be done, if it has to e done! Otherwise they would not do what has to be done, because what has to be done, is not done, because the wolves has done what has to be done: Run away, or they will be done by a hunter who knows hat he wants to get done, so that the wolves will not get his game done.

I know, I could have said it that simple already in first reply.

I agree with pibb, they are very independt and not a real social animal outside of the pack. But if you can spend a long time with one and dont push your luck to often you will be able to have social friendship with a male. It is not very easy to make friends with a female, unless you have raised her from a pup, but I can not personaly say it would never happen. All males are alpha but with wolves it is a bit like elphants the female is the matriarch and only releases control when she is on heat.

well the main reason i posted about this is because where i live you will hardly ever see or hear one,so i just wanted to see if anyone else has had experiences with one.i deffinately don't plan on doing any fence hopping,to me that is one of the most dangerous things you can do.not only because of the animal but also because of the owner .

Well, I have been on touch with a captive wolf in Finland. Nothing sexual, just touched it. Still have all fingers, yep. The experinece was fascinating, you feel standing with some genuine part of nature, not tampered by humans. Even if that is not a full truth.
I also felt that no matter of fascination, The wolf and I were of each our worlds, we could meet, but hardly come to a true relationship, as the wolf is focused on its pack, and most humans would stand as strangers to this pack.

You ae right, Fencehoping is no good, and the owners are sometimes more dangerous than the animals. In the case of wolf, it would be recommended to be careful with the animal too, and not least the pack.

There have been tellings about humans vs. wolves, but many of them are just tales, which does mean that we could not enjoy them for being just that. Some Zoo authors make real good stories on that. Some dog breeds with close relationships to the wwolf, such as the Ceskoslovensky Vlcak or the Saarloos Wolfhond have much of the outer appearence of the wolf. They have some of the same software too, but they can live with humans, and onestly I do feel some of the same standing in front of such a dog, as I did with the wolf.
These dogs require thier experienced owner too, as they are sensible with human body signals. The dog owner who can really manage to kep these breeds does no longer have to dream. (Either because his dreams come true, or the dogs don't let him sleep at night.)

There are some video's, though old they may be, of people engaging in sexual relations with Wolves.

I have also heard of some zoos being able to become part of the "Pack" in a wolf sanctuary in the past, though this may have been nothing more than talk.
