well, to be fair, the man was sentenced, not only accused. there are pretty strict laws in place about accusing someone of a crime before they are convicted. the media has to be really careful when dealing with criminal matters, because any mis-step can cause the media outlet to be sued or worse, cause the case to be thrown out of court. i don't think this guy represents the zoo community. he seems to be an anomaly. he represents zoo in the way that a rapist represents sexuality. sure the motions are there, but the incentive for the act is completely different. it's not that zoo's are the same as child molestors, but anyone who would have sex with an injured animal is a predator. whether he injured the animal or the animal was injured when he got there doesn't change the morality of the act. if your dog was injured (say he had a broken leg) would you persue sexual activity with him? Probably not, especially if it caused him/her discomfort. everything about this case sets off alarms. there seems to be too many unanswered questions, but too much character evidence against the guy to find much good to say about him. if i was organizing a news cast, this story would never have made the paper/airwaves. too many questions still to be asked. |

I think that sometimes what we see here may very well drive someone to do what this man has done. You read the stories here, you see all the pictures and movies. Why wouldn't this act come out? For one that would be reckless?
Yes I agree that sex with an animal should be in the highest of precaution and certainly in an act that doesn't involve pain. Maybe the animal had been injured prior. I am clumsy. Why not a sheep being so? But that's not the point! Maybe if people could share animals a bit more than now, which is probably a very slim, slim, SLIM margin, maybe these rapes wouldn't happen. I know it's not the first nor the last we'll read or hear about. Animal sharing should be at least considered. But try to knock down that barrier. |

Would you share an animal with that fella? I would not Thre is more in animal sharing like that. Sound slike you never had the responsibility of an animal. Minds change when you have tried that. The responsibility, not something else. When you bring u an animal , stay awake at nicght wehen thre is some problem, change you life to be able to keep those animals, pay vet. tax, food, insurances, train the animal, daily care and so on, you are done with those who would so very much want to come by for half an hour of fun, having seen rape movies with things they now want to check out en real life. You wuld not alow that either, if you had the responsibility of an animal. That is why animal sharing hardly never will come to work. Maybe there are people around that are willing to accept some sort of participation in the animal's lfe they want a share in. The fella in this case is certainly not one of them, he would have turned out to become a problem sooner or later anyway. |

It´s sad that only that kind of thing end up in papers and on tv, because it affects all who are engaged in animal love. So sad, so sad... :(

Thank You horseybutts' for posting this.
When people don't understand what Zoophilia really is and the only time they hear anything about it is when reading stories like this, what can we say or do about it....hope there are a few zoo'-positive articles in your local paper? |

being new here, I haven't found the "fence hopping" thread yet, but just from common sense would never do such, I was raised better than that. Growing up gay is enough stigma, add to that certain less than mainstream affinities such as leather, latex, bondage, etc, then coming out as bi after being exclusively gay for a number of years then a few years later still, realizing zoo fits in the mix somewhere as well and has for a while even though I have very little experience.
I've come to the state of mind that primarily in the US, society in general has a sick and confoundingly amusing attitude toward sex, and we have the Puritans among others to thank for it. Anyone familiar with sex ed in the schools? "don't tell the kids so they don't get ideas." Anyone familiar with advertising? "sex sells." Anyone know a NIMBY(not in my back yard)? they're the first to complain about anything, but my specific reference is adult bookstores, they decry the appearance of new ones "too close to schools/churches" but never address the "demand" that fuels their existence, the "supply". Anybody that isn't taught impartially about sex is going to-pardon the usage-f*** up somewhere sometime. And let's not forget about contemporary a--holes like Pat Robertson who said (as if he even knows...) that God sent Hurrican Katrina down upon New Orleans because Ellen Degeneres is gay (her hometown). And what about Jerry Falwell who likes to pick on harmless children's TV, claiming that a certain fuzzy purple character who carries an orange "magic bag" and has a triangular antenna on his head is recruiting children into the dreaded Homosexual Lifestyle. Katie Couric lost in on national morning TV news when that came over their teleprompter, and she commented something to the effect "that man needs to get a life." A certain president's re-election relied heavily although not exclusively on the promotion of an anti-gay marriage amendment to the Constitution of the United States. God forbid if Brokeback Mountain had won more Oscars, Heath for Best Actor, Jake for Best Supporting, and Best Picture, then all we'd hear about for the next month from the holier-than-thou crackpot Republicans is the Gay Agenda in Hollywood and how it's sending us to hell in a handbasket. Any more, the terms "child molester" and "sex offender" have become social scapegoats in this day and age, eliciting conformity through shame. Gays are not child molesters. All priests are not sex offenders. child molesters and sex offenders have f***** up attitudes about sex and most of them are straight males. A priest friend of mine explained some of the details to me during the big brouhaha in the Catholic Church a few years ago, age and consent make a big difference if one can get past the hysteria and see the details. and I am not saying sex with kids is totally OK either even though there are those that do, but is a "sex offender" who raped his brother's 4 year old girl the same as a "sex offender" who got caught wagging his weinie in public restroom? What about the high school coach or gym teacher who let a massage go a bit too far or may have been egged on by said 17 year old high school student with raging hormones, is the coach a deviant "child molester?" Pardon my rambling but it's a bit of a sore spot. Anybody who's into non-procreational, non-missionary position sex with the lights on needs to be sure of CONSENT of the participants and LOCATION of activity, don't let any of the misguided religeous zealots find out. Thanks for listening... Larry, HardforFur |
