I was confused about where to post my last DRM question, due to the fact that I can download ok, it's after it dnlds that the window pops up saying I need to upgrade--I click ok, then a window comes up stating my WMP9.0 is not installed
properly, and for me to reinstall. I've not tried to download movies, just trailers, which I understood to be free and clips from the forum here.

Perhaps I should just accept this as a glinch, and move on???

I dunno - like i said -I am soooo non computer savvy - but maybe adding your first question and Pick's answer will help restore the conversation and resume answers ^_^

here is your first question:

I didn't have any problems with WMV files until I tried to dnld one of the Trailers, about a month ago from the Beastforum Newsletter.
A msg comes up that says I need to update DRM--when I click on OK, a new window comes up that states Media Playe 9.0 is not installed properly, and for me to reinstall. I went to Add/Remove and deleted all information pertaining to Window Media Player and reinstalled. I still have the same problem. I've used the search program here and on the internet, just to find out what in the world was DRM. I have W2000, and not savvy at all when it comes to PCs.
I'm very nervous about even posting in the right section here---but figured Tech help is what I need.

If anyone would be so kind as to advise me, what to do, I will be MOST grateful.

When you download a DRM protected video, you have to be a member of the site that owns it, or you have to purchase the video. WMP is simply contacting the site to check your license ;)

What's strange is that this is the only site that a pic will save only as a BMP. Further more, its only the opened photo that will save as a BMP. I can save the thumbnail as a JPG and I can save avatars as JPGs. :thinking: :thinking: :thinking: :wacko:

I have a suggestion!

I have found that anytime I try to save any picture it saves as bmp.. BUT when you have the pic open.. choose the email picture option... It will email the picture as index.jpg... and then you can change the name to one that is more suited to the photo :)

keep in mind that when you click on the thumbnails and open them.. this constitutes a download .. so be very careful what you click on.. make sure it is something you want to download

Well after checking the usual culprites I'm stuck, my IE wants to DL all picks as BitMaps and it is driving me bloody well insane, any idea how to force it to save as JPeg ? (and no you cant use the litle drop down box! if it where that simple I wouldnt have a problem lol) I either have to re-asociate JPeg to IE or some thing like that.

I am having the same problem Allan, but only on BF. Everywhere else they save as jpeg, and yes, it is driving me nuts too :wacko:

I am not very good at this but why can I not download either wmv or avi files yet I can mpeg? It keeps using up my free downloads.

I can only down load five things from the forum per day

Don't know the answer to the problem compleetly but it seems as though there is something written into the system that when a photo is expanded it becomes a bmp file and for some reson the command is not allowing it to be changed before downlpading.
I also understand that bmp files are larger than jpg files. It's very probable that the automatic conversion from jpg too bmp is what causes the pic to be enlarged.

Maybe this is something for beaker too look at.

I do however know that all pic's can be saved as jpg's before expanding them.
