I thought this would be a good place to share the loss of our very much loved pets that have crossed over … I thought it would be nice to have a place where we could list our pets name .. a sort of memorial for them… letting everyone know that our pets were loved and were a special and cherished part of our lives … The loss is always a personal one.. and many just want others to know how they felt about there animals.. :wub:

If you want… please feel free to post anything.. your pets name.. what he/she meant to you.. anything in your heart.. anything you want to share! :friends:

If you are someone that hasn’t lost a pet.. but want to help someone in their time of need.. please feel free to post… your thoughts and prayers are always welcome!! :angel:

Please know that we(your friends) share in your grief and pain… and wish you the best while you are grieving …
:inlove: :flowers:

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

youth is wasted on the young...

we had a toy collie when I was "younger" -she was an EXTRADORDINARY LADY -jet black coat with very distinct markings -not to be confused with a miniature -she was always a very robust lady -the size of a lab... I spent every night cuddled up with her -thus the name... and the entire family knew that she was really mine....

Cuddles used to ride my leg -at the time I had NO IDEA what was going on -I thought it was a game -the other family members used to joke about it -I was the ONLY one she did it to -

I may not have known what was going on, but I dervived great pleasure in knowing that she was having a good time -even if I didn't know how good of a time...

I am in GREAT regrets -I LOVED HER and I know that she loved me -if only I were wise enough back then to realize that she was indeed my first true love -I'd do anything to turn back the hands of time and give her the love that would have fulfilled us both -youth is wasted on the young -I love you Cuddles - R.I.P.
:heart:

My family had a miniature schnauzer named Pepper who used to wait up for me when I was out on dates, or out babysitting. She'd lay on the sofa until I came home, and give me a quick kiss and walk me to my room, and then curl up on the rug next to my bed. The whole family was very attached to her, but for some reason, she felt that she needed to watch over me......go figure......lol.

She passed away long after I had moved out on my own, and I remember being devastated when my mother called me with the news.

I'll never forget her....she made me feel "special", which is difficult to do in a large family sometimes.

Thank you for starting this thread, wyld.

Wyld, thank you so very much for starting and pinning this thread. Most of us have freinds that have gone ahead of us and have left holes in our hearts. Somehow, sharing the pain and knowing that you are not alone makes it a little more bearable.

In Memory of my beloved lab mixes Thor and Loki.

Thor was my little walking oxymoron... he was afraid of thunder, but always good for a laugh. He was the kindest, sweetest, most sensative person i have ever known. April 2, 1994- May 18, 2003. Lymphoma sucks.

Loki lived up to his name, always getting into mischief. He insatiably curious about everything and everyone, always ready to see who or what was over the next hill or around the next corner. April 2, 1994- August 1, 2005. Look after your brother, Littlest One.

Thank you both for brightening my life. I will never forget you. :inlove:

Wyld, what a fantastic tribute...thanks for posting this thread.

"Paige" was an adorable, scruffy, friendly, funny, pain-i- the butt mix breed that I fell in love with when I got her as a puppy. She made me laugh and had a great sense of humor shown in her actions. And boy could she pout with the best of them...especially at bathtime! She would sit on the other side of the room staring at me after her bath, but would look away when I looked at her...the goof! You could say we had the same personalities...both of us kind of mischeivious but very loving! And she loved unconditionally which will always stay in my heart. I had her for six fun-filled wonderful years, until she died in a tragic accident that broke my heart. That was almost 9 years ago now, but only recently have I even considered getting another dog. Paige is buried at my parent's farm in a special place where our cherished pets now lie.

Hey Wylde, thanks for starting this thread.

Sebastian was my lover, my friend and my teacher for almost 15 years.

When I was getting ready to leave the military, I decided I wanted a companion. I had a lifelong love of dogs, so it was natural that I would want one. I saw an ad for Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and traveled upstate from where I lived, to the breeder. It was an immediate thing, just *click* and we were best friends.

Sebastian was a 90 lb apricot-colored Rhodesian Ridgeback. He had beautiful brown eyes that you would look into forever. He was brave and strong, but very quiet and dignified. Always a gentleman, he never fought except in defense, and was never anything but friendly to people he knew.

Courageous - I can still recall a moment, many years ago. I was spending time with another guy named Gordon. Gordon had a doberman named Ty. We were (the four of us) enjoying a walk at a lake. Ty had gone up ahead, and Sebastian stayed with us. After a few minutes, Ty comes barrelling back around the lake, with a frigging ENORMOUS dog behind him. I think it was an Irish Wolfhound... Sebi alerts as he sees his best bud being chased and waits there with us. As Ty passes us, Sebi steps out and does the best doggy imitation of a fullback block I've ever seen. Stops the other dog in his tracks! With the pursuit broken, Ty comes back around and the other dog, doing the math, backs off and retreats. Not a single growl, nip or bite was exchanged during this little exchange, but I hold it up as an example of how Sebi knew how to be strong and brave without being brutal.

Loving - Sebi would sleep beside me, his belly to my back, head resting on my neck. Sometimes during the night I would roll over and wake up in the morning, his beautiful brown eyes the first thing I saw. Sweet kisses from his muzzle the first thing on my lips. Sebi knew how to kiss. Not just lick, but kiss, muzzle to mouth, his breath mingling with my own, as I stroked the side of his face, enjoying the morning.

Our relationship deepened over the years, and he taught me some of the most important lessons in my life. How to love, how to forgive, how to take each day and enjoy it for what it was. I don't doubt that I'll have another dog in my life, but none will ever take the place of Liongate's Sebastian

Wow. Wonderful thread.

I have to pay homage to my own sweet, sweet Ravi-boy. So much I could say. But anyone who has lost a dear pet, knows already how much the tears are blocking my ability to type.

But, even before I ever knew Ravi, I'd seen this poem and it brought a tear to my eye. It has, of course, much more potency now.

"The Power Of The Dog" -- Rudyard Kipling

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie --
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find -- it's your own affair --
But . . . you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone -- wherever it goes -- for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We've sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept'em, the more do we grieve;

For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long --
So why in -- Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

~~~~~
Sweet dreams, dear Ravi, my angel.
She never heard us say goodbye
Penny 1980-2004
She was deaf but always seemed to understand when she was needed. She was born a farm cat and experience a harsh life, but never seemed to be bitter or bad natured. Her white fur and calm mews showed strength and love for all she had been given. Nearly being trampled by a horse only made her appreciate life more. After losing all of her kittens in numerous tragic accidents from a car engine to a recliner chair, she appreciated the little things in life. After being cut by a knife and surviving two days bleeding to near to death, she enjoyed being alive and well from almost losing it all. She stayed fine until her long loved mate, Jake, was put to sleep. She had survived enough and was running out of steam, living longer that most cats with her condition and all the things she needed to suffer. Though she seemed haunted by her deceased lover, she never lost her cool when anyone was around. Sadly, though, she begin to spiral downward into infections of her ears and losing her sight, the only thing next to smell that she depended on. Somehow, though she was blind, deaf, and dying after over 20 years of life, she kept her affectionate and loving ways, up until the day she too was put to sleep.
The last memory I have of her was petting her bony body before she was taken away. She didnt seem to notice and was still, knowing her time was there and yet happy about it. She had suffered enough, and though it was sad, she was about to be released, to cross the rainbow bridge to meet up with her mate and kittens. Penny, your food bowl may lie empty, but our love for you will never pour out.
My friend and companion Max was a shep/rott mix he was a goofy dog who was raised to protect our kennels chihuahua pups from preditors.
He would plow snow with his head under and clear pathes for them.
he would kill anything even a mouse that came near them.
and he was a gentle giant who would allow small children to pull his fur,explore his ears and generally annoy.
he slept on a sleeping bag in our eldest daughters room and would follow me and my wife anround the house making strangle rumbling sounds I guess he thought he could talk,
One night while I was working a burglar entered our house and grabbed my wifes arm before she could run for her pistol , without a sound max lunged down the stairs and tore into the man He shot max three times but max would not give ground and tore the mans arm and thigh so badly that he lost consiousness.
Max died an hour later cradled in my wifes arms A look of deep concern for her to his last breath when he made a lung for a policeman trying to get my wife to stand up. even the officer was in tears and insisted on carrying max into the vets office hopping he could be saved.
My wife and i will never stop loving this big clumsey mutt She cant even look at his photos without bursting into tears,
Ive bread and raised hundreds of dogs but this one will always be in my heart for being the best friend a man could have and giving his life for those he loved.
Rest in peace Max 1988 -2001
