Any one of us that had been forunate enough to love our animal and then has to grieve in his or her loss, has my heart felt sympathy and empathy. It is always remarkable to me how each one of us shares thier stories about their wonderful animal and truly humanizes what they meant.
I wonder, when we see them again, if they have been talking among themselves about what wonderful and incredible people they shared their lives with on earth. Just a nice thought about how our four legged friends might feel about us! I would like to have my dogs think of me as a kind and wonderful companion that gave them shelter, food, care and above all, love! If I come remotely close to being the kind person my dogs thought I was on earth, then I will surely see my companions in the afterlife! Remember: It's not who you love or How you love, It's That you love! This post has been edited by danethruster on Nov 25 2005, 07:37 PM |

"she never heard us say goodbye" that made myeyes brim with tears
And Leathernqt, the tears have rolled down my face... You must be someone special to have been gifted such a wonderful dog. I am so sorry for your loss. I find it too hard to speak of my losses, for i grow far too attatched to my beloved compainions. |

I have lost lots of pets, two were my cats,; three were my hamsters, eaten by the cats; two were guinea pigs and two were mice! The two cats were most loved...Ben the first to go had some queer disease and died, lovely and black; Zero, second to go had liver failure, she always, I mean every night, came up onto my bed to sleep with me and then Smudge(still alive, one eye too, bless her) came in and was dissapointed that she had not gotten there fist, she was always a bit slow off the mark. When Zero passed on Smudge kindly took her place on th bed and comforted me, the hamsters were all eaten by Zero, no, actually one bt Ben, one was my older Brother's and he was in the shower but he had left the hamster cage open, BIG mistake, Ben reached in and walked confidently out of the room gnawing on it's poor little head! and ten the last one died when it was pregnant. the guinea pigs aren't important they smelled a bit, so did the mice but they were loved more.....cya thanx 4 listening if you could be bothered to, yeah long reply,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,bye!

Thankyou to Wyld and all the other contributors to this thread - You've brought my Laddie back to me!
Laddie was a Kelpie cross we had when I was growing up, and was the last dog in my life before I joined the forces. Strictly speaking he was the family's dog, but in reality I believe he was mine. He was always with me, and I never felt complete without him. He spent most nights on my bed, we played fetch until my arm was sore from throwing the ball, but best of all we sat together just enjoying each other company. He occasionally worried us by disappearing for a few days (visiting lady friends) but always found his own way back. The worst day of my life was coming home from school one day to be told that my father had him put down because his fur kept triggering my father's asthma. It seemed so cruel and heartless, especially as none of us had any warning. I'd give anything to be able to say goodbye to him. Reading through your posts here brought all this back to me and for that I thank you. I now feel like a total heel - not just because I haven't included a photo with this post, but because I can't even lay my hands on one in my house. That will be corrected next time I visit my family, then I'll share him with you. I'm not into religion or spirituality, but there is one thing I really do want to believe in, and that's Rainbow Bridge. Thanks again, FiFF PS - here's another link to similar websites, poems quotes etc http://www-hsc.usc.edu/~cypert/dick/inheaven.html My favourite is "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went." thanks for sharing your beloved friends with us, it seems people get monuments even if they were nasty and mean in life, But these wonderful animals that share our lives are all too often just memories.
Im glad wyldfyre67 made this thread So we can share those memories :friends: |
