If I had a six month relationship with my bitch and decide to get her spayed, will there be a problem of me still having intercourse :mellow: with her. Reason for getting her spayed is because of other dogs in the area she would attract when in heat.

B) i have only known three females that were spayed and two wouldnt/couldnt do it at all once spayed.one did allow attempts but it was not the same and with out the asking/flagging it was different.why noy keep her up/in kennel when in heat.its worth it in my opinion.

I agree with Hotrod, It is better to just keep her kenneled, or inside during her heat, I have been with female dogs for a very long time, and only had only 2 spayed bitches that would still alow sex. Not to mention the side effects that most don't know that are caused by spaying them.

After seeing this topic many times, it is my opinion there is little chance of intercourse unless shes a bigdog thats comfortable with it out of heat.

I have a spayed lab/shep that only enjoys a good rub ^_^ cuz I dont want to hurt her. Also just had a new addition to the family 8mo Lab/Rot Fem that will not be spayed period, keeping her inside B) .

I belive altering a dog male or female. Is crulity, it causes cancer from what I can tell and it is just unnatural, I mean if you were an animal would you want someone tinkering around causing permenant damage to one your meanings of life? Keep her the same.

I have a lot of experence with this topic so I will put my two cents in.

Silky, my female was spayed shortly after we had our third mating, and about one month after she had a litter of pups. When a female dog is spayed their body starts to tighten up, this can be counteracted with regular sexual intercourse. If for whatever reason you are not able to mate with her for 2-3 weeks she will tighten up to the point of no longer being able to have sex. Female dogs spayed prior to mating are almost never able to have sex. My mate and I have sex 2-3 times a week, and it keeps her quite loose. The longest I have left her without sex was 5 days, and she didn't tighten up much.

I agree with Hotrod if you don't HAVE to spay her its better if you don't.


Pkmn the risks of cancer depend on the type of cancer. Spayed females have a lower risk of breast cancer, uterine cancer and cervicle cancer.

This info is based on 5 years working professionally with spayed and neutered k9s, and as with any living thing, results vary with the individule.

No, depending if you can fit in her between heats is what you need to know. If you can you will have no problems. shere this shrivling and shrinking thing comes form i do not know.

My bitch was spayed before i got her, probably done as a pup. she loves to get together and i fit in her nicely.

The thing is you cannot have sex with her for a long time to let her heal up properly.

and the cancer thing, the cancer comes from NOT spaying. breast cancer and possible ovarian cancer, as well as the chance for pyometra.

the health benifiets for her would be good and she can still enjoy you and a long life

but female canines are very prone to breast cancer. breast cancer is bad in bitches because often it matasticises into the lungs. as well heats can open her up for pyometra, a painful and wreched way to die, it is always fatal if not treated, treatment is a spay, emergency spays are damn expencive and difficult with a longer recovery time and a greater chance of death.

If you are in europe make sure they do take the uterine horns not just the ovaries.

it is best for you and her. Her life and health and you not paying for emergency treatments or puppies.

its quite easy to keep a female inside while shes in heat.

Walk her in a safe area, *back yard, or whatever* when she needs to go outside. allways be around her when she is, to make sure she doesent get jumped..other then that. its Not that big a deal.
