when i moved to this town i had to sign a dangrous dog papper just because i have three german shepherds .i have bin trying to get a new appartment but no one will rent to me because i have three dogs on that list .who made this dangrous dog list and did they have a clue about dogs at all .its funny these people wont even meat them. i tell them they are sweet come see but if there on the list ,no dice isint that discrimination .my neighbor has a pitt bull he said it was the only place that would rent to him she is the sweetest pitt bull i have ever met it plays with my shepherds and loves kids .i dont think this dangrous dog list should be instead there should be a dangerous owners list what do you think sorry in advance if i seem mad but this list has me annoyed

i totally agree with you mopar. its humans that make dogs dangerous, not the dogs themselves. society blows

People are always trying to screw with you. If it isn't your dogs, it is the color of your garage. My advice is to get the hell out of town. People in the country are much more likely to live and let live. You are simply up against human stupidity and that is a high wall indeed!

This list was created to protect landlords, property owners and apartment complexes from lawsuits and blame in case something were to happen... The breeds are added to the list based on general knowledge of the particular breed.. and possibly the fact that the larger dogs might tend to destroy a house or an apartment if the owner doesnt take care of the animals or his apartment correctly... I know it can drive one crazy.. but thinking from an owners standpoint.. it is the only way to go... by not renting to someone that has this particular breed you are avoiding a possible lawsuit in case the dog owner doesnt properly take care of the dog...

at one time even a minature pinscher was listed for my apartments.... right before I moved in a guy moved in with one... and he had brought the dog with him to view the apartment... when asked what his dog breed was they said they coudnt rent to him... he was able to get that changed.. LOL since he already could show them the dog... and made them realize that a minature pinscher is in no way related to a doberman :)

I know that it is frustrating... and that your dogs might be loving.. but remember there are many dog owners that dont treat their animals correctly or that intentionally make their dogs mean .... it is because of those owners that we will suffer now... sad but true...

pit bulls have a realy bad name in portland (my neihboring town) cuase theres been an uncountable number of attacks and lots of animals and i think even a couple small children have been killed. but its cuase of all the g :censored: d d :censored: m (parden my french but this subject realy ticks me off) dog fighters in the area. my dad who works in the area was at a house last year and they had 30 bit bulls in cages, he said they were probly dog fighting even though they said they were an animal rescue clinic. about a week after that they were charged with a hole list of animal cruelty crimes including dog fighting, after the house cuaght fire and all the dogs died cuase they were locked in kennals. im sorry but that just makes me so mad.

frustrating thing about bite stats is that they can't accurately measure the # of dogs of a specifc breed in society. If there are 15% GSD's in the US, and 5% Malamutes (just makin' all these #'s up to make the point) and both dogs bite just as often, the GSD's will have the higher # of bites... They have stats on bites by breed, but no idea about how many of any type of dog are out there in society...
