I think I will add more to this topic in the differences between a few Japanese words.

Manga = Japanese comic done by a professional company.
Doujin = Japanese comic done by a fan or someone not tied to a professional company.
Anime = Japanese cartoon, either animated or not. Not pornographic. Freqently referred to as a series of cartoons/mangas as "an anime" (such as Dragonball Z, Naruto, Sailor Moon, etc.).
Hentai = Japanese cartoon, either animated or not. Pornographic.

I hate to rip into you for this (actually I take great joy in it) but you have NOT done your homework. A top and bottom are completely different concepts than what Dominants and Submissives are.

Tops and bottoms only play those respective roles in the sexual play of the bedroom.

However, a dominant and submissive relationship is a lifestyle that lasts 24/7. A pet/submissive to please and serve his/her master to make them happy any way they can. Submissives take great joy in being a full-time pleaser, from everything to giving a great blowjob on the couch, to a simple cup of coffee in the morning. A master is not simply something that controls your sexual acts. A true master takes joy in using His/Her pet for every aspect of their day, and often, submissives (especially myself) expect little to nothing in return to please someone they love.

My philosophies, and may be common along BDSM are:

Master gets first choice on what to do with His submissives free time.

A Master should be mentally strong enough to keep His pet in line. If the submissive is controlling things from behind the scenes because their Master is not truly dominating them, there is something wrong.

Often a pet may be unsure about their Master's strength to control them. This can result in testing. However, this should never go beyond making a few mistakes to find his reactions. NEVER say an outright NO to your master's command.

Earning the right to call someone your Master is a long process but rewarding when you are knowing of the knowledge that you are a cherished treasure for Him.

Limits NEED to be placed before a serious D/s relationship starts, but the best pets will try to push their own limits to achieve even higher variety.

Neither submissive, nor Dominant is an easy life to follow. Sometimes, following into demands can be hard, especially when you may not want to, or when you're going through depression. For Dominants, taking dominance over another life, even for His own benefit, is a great responsibility.



Finally, a pet is not simply for their body to be owned. A true pet is one who has handed over their entire self to that special master. This, is the point which a master can have access to the pet's entire body, and even mind. All their thoughts, fantasies and feelings should be able to come out to the Master on demand. However, this is not to be expected right off the bat of course, giving over yourself, even if you really want to, takes time.

Tops and bottoms are ONLY sex.
Dominants, and submissives, go beyond sex, to their twenty-four seven lives.





I know all this. I've read about it on countless pages, I've had my own experiences, and even have cried over it multiple times at night. I know enough to be average.

I wouldn't call Cronyne's post anything short of passionate and true. top/ bottom really isnt the same as master/sub. i don't need to go into it because i think he did a great job explaining. even if a bit agressive with it ^_^ hope no one thinks to harsly of him.
