I gotta agree... I think if it was one factor, it would be the money end of it... I was down in Mexicio a few years back w/ my AZ uncle and I got so pissed at the American tourists that would have the local kids scrambling in the streets for PENNIES... I saw one young girl damn near get hit by a truck cuz she was chasing a rolling coin... :(

Brazil, by most accounts that I have been exposed to, seems to be a fairly sexually free - experimentive culture... it makes sense that they would be into it as we all know how great it is... everyone should be!

i have friends from there and from what he tells me and i have witnessed animal sex there is like second nature to alot of guys growing up

so i guess its just something they dont see as wrong as we do, so the market for the porn there is easier to get into and better selling and such

The almighty dollar or what ever currency of the country in question, relaxed law enforcement and kickbacks to people in high places, plus poverty just to name a few things.
Many years ago before Transcontinental air flights most shipping passed through the Sues channel and there were many entertainment places at the ports that pander to the tastes of the voyeurs. In some places there were overly large males with small women, at other places there were females with canines or primates and some with equines, IE, donkeys, Arabian stallions and some even had a zebra. Then you went to the other end of the spectrum and you had the belly dancers, fat ones skinny ones, strip clubs, prostitutes, shemales, lesbian's almost any sort of entertainment that would entice customers to spend money.
One could ask how many service men seen something in Vietnam when the conflict was taking place, IE, females with dogs, pigs, donkeys and the usual, large male small female, shemales, male on male, female on female.
I can still recall reading something back in the seventies of an activity that used to take place in the outer areas of the Philippines and surrounding areas. They would get a female primate and she would be tied down on top of or over the end of a table for the men to have sex with before public outcry and diminishing population and the law curtailed that activity.
Now what has really changed other than the locations of the aforesaid entertainment.

I was lucky enough to be in Brazil earlier this year, I saw no signs of a sex trade of any description.

(I was probably not looking for it, nor in the right cities or parts of cities)

But I would like to say that although there is a great divide between the wealthy and the poor, everyone I met there was friendly welcoming and pleasant.

(Not to mention all the ladies were beautiful!!!)

I think it's simply the legality issue. If it was legal here in the USA, I'm positive you'd see a lot of k9 porn being produced. Of course this would never happen, so the point is moot.
