I was kind of shocked by the number of people basing their animal purchases on sexual capabilities alone. Tons of posts about which breed is best for sex? What animal gives the best sex? Who has the biggest this. The widest that. Largest tit. Smallest tat.

Are they buying animals as possible loved ones or mere sex objects?

What is more important to you.

I would like a border collie bitch. The possibility of sex is somewhere in mind, but not the top of my list of priorities. Border collies remind me of a dog I loved, who recently died, and yes, she was a lover. Recently we got a dachshund, of course she won't be a lover.

I wouldn't buy a certain animal with plans to have sex with it, but as a zoo the sexual thoughts are there ;) I met a dog tonight, which I'd love to take home, he was running around, was very thin, had a collar but no tags. Was very friendly, came over and sat down on my shoes and just hung out with me. I was curious if it was a male or female (it was dark so I couldn't see).

naturly my desire for sex is quite strong(as a defence it is more so in a reproductive sense) and my choice for a mate would reflect this, but our emotional compatibility is more important, if we can not feel love for each other then well, what would be the point two misirable but well laid ponys ? No Sex is secondary to our emotional relation ship if it is to be a long term one

Two happy lil Ponys to the end :D

The animals in my life are and will always be life partners and friends first. If it so happens that they and I can engage in sex play of some sort then so be it. :)

no way the first thing that comes to mind when and if i get a dog would have to be compatibility in respects of my other babys then i would think is the animal going to enjoy being with me how much will s/he cost me then hundreds and thousands of other questions
if i grow very attatched to the animal i may consider a sexual relationship but only if s/he wants probably the last thing ill consider when i first bought my gsd that was the last thing on my mind when i saw her i just saw how sweeeet and how badly she was treated which made me get her and im so happy i did
she is the best thing that ever happend to me

I would not buy an animal on the grounds of compatability for sex alone but we are what we are. I am sexually attracted to animals so, yes, it would be up there on the list of criteria but certainly not a sole reason. I'd be looking at temprament, general state of health and all the other things you look for in (in my case) a horse, but probably with temprament top of the list.

I think if you are a zoo then you'd be silly not to at least consider it even if you're hoping for an emotional bond first... physical bonds tend to form pretty soon after emotional ones IMHO ;)

Of course I could go out tomorrow (not today - I got a nasty gastric bug :() and come across some broken down little pony who's a grumpy as anything and fall head over heels in love - emotions will always override common sense :)

No its not, to me anyway. I love spirit cause she is beautiful, I have always loved huskies even before I discovered zoophilia. The fact that she's horny as hell is just an added bonus ^_^

Well that's a quite easy one, I'm quiet bad about rotts. Just seeing them walk through the street makes me go cray ;) so well just having a rott as pall is more then enough for me! Drewl, just having my love close to me, stroking through his fur, the nice doggy smell :D that's what makes my day! (next to some friends and weed ;))

I can't deny that I'm quite sexual and that it important for me, so somewhere it could make a tiny difference. But well my choise will always be a nice male rotty ;) believe me, they are great lovers but they aren't naturaly born with it :D I can get quiet mad at people who just get a dog becuz he looks tough or people think they're the a realy horny breed <_<

Sexual possibility is not high on the list. I've always preferred medium to large dogs, never been a fan of the ankle-high variety. A pet is a companion first, mate later for me.

Not at all, I would never buy an animal simply because of a sexual attraction. But of course I didn't buy any of my pets, all of my pets were orphans with no other place to go (their owners abondended them at my dad's hospital  ).

Great topic Shadow! :)

I voted NO. As I've ranted and raved on the subject of lust vs. Love in previous posts, I will have to say that being with an animal in a relationship that is founded solely in SEX and sexual satisfaction, is NOT "Love". I think anyone who MUST have their partner sexually intact in order to "love" them, may want to sit down and think deeply, and ask themselves if they really do LOVE their animal-mate...or simply just "love" what the animal does FOR them. Because there's a WORLD of difference betwen the two!

I've fallen in love with plenty of de-sexed canines (with no sexual intentions/attraction). Even animals that I thought I'd never be attracted to like a mare, a cattle dog, a poodle...certain animals and specific breeds of animals that I thought I'd never be able to really love DEEPLY (as in kissing, caressing, etc), and yet those individuals who just had a wonderful personality and energy, opened up my heart for them, even though there was never any sexual attraction for them.

On a side note, I had always hated the terms "money", "cost", "purchase" and "buy" when it came to dogs, horses and other animals that I love personally. I've always found it so demeaning. It's sad that we must "PURCHASE" our lovers. I've managed to detach from the whole thing over recent years. Still kinda stings a little bit every now and then when I hear zoos talk like that. Anyway...a bit off-subject there.

To put it all simply, it's nothing without LOVE.

When i bought my first horse, oddly enough sex wasn't invloved in the decision at all, despite the fact that id been at this since i was 13, he was 3 yrs old, and uncut, but again, wasnt an issue with me, i'dve bought him if he was gelded just as quick, simply because i love everything about horses.

Guns ;)
