HI all,

I have a female rottie, she is a lovely girl. She is 3 years old. Right now she seems to be lactating from 3 of her teats. She is 3 months away form her next heat and isn't preg. She just had a checkup last week with the vet. The vet said she was in good health and aloso made a point in telling me she had lovely mammary glands.

I have had several female dogs and none of them have done this. Any ideas? Does this happen often? Should I be concerned?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are there any puppies around? I have seen many bitches get milk for orphaned or neighbor's puppies.

gentially or massuage or suckle her teats?

i,ve seen this in fem dogs one a rottie lover
that was someone elses so our times toggether were,nt to often
but at least once a yr she start giving milk)))))))))))))))

have seen it it other fem dogs as well some were even spayed

as her last check up was ok i dont think i,d wory to much
if its not due to activities o your part, it could be her hormones
telling her she wants babies

have alos seen this in mares who,ve foaled before and it dose
seen to happen mostly in spring or early summer.

so it may just be a biological time clock thing due to the time of yr

I think your right. I know about a psychological condition called a "psudio pregnancy" where they think they have puppies. I have never seen it first hand though. I am sure this is what it is. Yes I do stimulate her nipples and her other goodies :)
