A healthy individual's urine is sterile while it is still in the bladder. There are no known side effects to consuming the urine of another person, in fact many cultures consider it to have medicinal effects.

Survival
It has been suggested that when a person is in desert survival or surrounded by salt water and devoid of drinking water that the person must resort to drinking his own urine if it is the only liquid available. This technique has been said to extend life from one to two extra days.

Contrary to that notion is that drinking urine may actually increase the speed of dehydration because of certain bodily toxins and salinity in the urine.

Aron Ralston claims to have used the technique when trapped for several days with his arm under a boulder.

Alternative medicine/Practices
In countries such as India, Thailand and China, it is considered normal by some [SPAM] to drink your own urine for health and cosmetic purposes. This health branch of drinking urine is considered to be labeled as Urine therapy. Also, an old method of teeth-whitening during the Renaissance involved the consumption of urine, though it needn't be, and wasn't always necessarily, that of the user.

Morarji Desai, former Prime Minister of India (1977-1979), practiced urine drinking.

Koryak people of Siberia drink urine in conjuction with their ceremonial use of the psychoactive Amanita muscaria mushroom. The active alkaloids are unchanged as they pass through the human body, allowing the urine to prolong the intoxicating effects of the mushroom.

Some Hindus use cow urine as an ingredient of a ritual libation.



Urine therapy

Urine therapy is a specialized branch of alternative medicine. Any sort of oral or external application of human urine for medicinal purposes falls into this category.

Promoters of urine therapy believe urine to have many curative powers. Some cultures, especially Indian, have traditionally used urine as a medicine. Urine has been prescribed in India for over 5,000 years for health benefits, as written in the Shivambu Kalpa Vidhi.

There are also accounts of drinking urine to prolong the effects of certain entheogenic experiences. Some psychoactive alkaloids are passed through the body unchanged in urine. The Koryak tribe of Siberia uses the Amanita muscaria mushroom in this way, drinking their urine during long ceremonies. They sometimes concetrate their urine by partially freezing it and ingesting the unfrozen liquid. A theory presented by R. Gordon Wasson states that the Koryak's use of this entheogen is linked to the mythological Soma. Proponents of the mushroom/soma theory believe that Soma in the Vedic rituals was in fact Amanita muscaria.

Many other cultures consider the practice to be repugnant, even to the point of being taboo.

Urine contains many vitamins, hormones and nutrients that are essential to the proper functioning of human body. However, it also contains metabolic waste by-products and small amounts of toxins such as ammonia and formaldehyde.

Critics of urine therapy note that there are no scientific studies which validate urine therapy. Urea, an ingredient in urine, may have some medical value, but urea is already an ingredient in some contemporary medicines. In recent times, the Port-a-John corporation of Utica, Michigan, USA has developed a filter to collect medically significant proteins from users of their chemical toilets. Some pharmaceuticals contain ingredients extracted from human or animal urine.

I suppose any dog or horse would recognize the act of pissing, but maybe they don't often see a human doing it. They've sniffed at my stream and maybe taken two or three licks, but never lapped at it with eagerness.

What's fun is when the dog waits patiently for me to finish, then dives on my cock while it's out hehehehe

It's sterile when it comes out.. once introduced to the environment.. I bet it's like anything else in the world. It can go 'bad' or non-sterile because it's come into contact with something.

But yes, urine is relatively harmless. It's the excess protiens etc.

The more water you drink, the easier your body is flushed and the clearer (What urine is supposed to be.. ) your urine is.

I don't think it's sick or disgusting, but I don't think I'd enjoy trying it either. There are plenty of other things I can drink, and I think I'll just stick to them. :) Closing a topic because one person think's its gross.. well. Take a look at the forum we're on. There are plenty of folks that don't think beastiality, or zoophilia.. is disgusting or degrading, even if the majority of our populace on the world does. We've learned to open our minds a little, and I say for the better.

just adding to what has been stated - of the people I know who do engage in watersports - ALL of them practice what is refered to as being "acidically responsible" :huh: errr translation: they are methodical about flushing thier systems with water or beer and urinating at least once or twice to get rid of any urine that may be acidic before engaging in thier play -so that the river runs clear so to speak...

the forum has considered laxing it's stance on w/s however I don't think any of us anticipated the reverse - that the human would be the giver -so it would still be very helpful if anyone comes up with any factual information concerning that aspect...

futureteacher.....in this case the word "sterile" means that the urine is free of bacteria or other abnormal organisms. normal urine (a WASTE product) does contain proteins and other things that your body has already processed and urine is your body's way of eliminating them.....likewise feces.
