QUOTE (guthwulf @ Oct 29 2009, 05:07 AM)
This is actually one of the reasons I most likely will never have kids. I've heard horror stories of families torn apart because one parent was zoo. I am married, and my wife knows I am zoo. She is not though, so it could potentially be a problem down the road. My wife agrees that we should not have kids, for my reasons and for her own. I don't mean to imply that zoos should not have kids. In fact, I find that most zoos are very kind, loving people and I know some who are wonderful parents. Just for me, it is a personal choice I have made not to do so.

I'd reccomend not ever telling your kids that you are zoo. If you absolutely have to tell them, then wait until they are well into adulthood. I just asked my wife this question, and her response was pretty interesting. She said one of the biggest sources of tension between her and her father is that he revealed too much about himself when she was younger. Told her about his personal struggles, and about how he regretted having children. She says that while we all need to talk about our personal issues, we should not burden our children with them. So she reccomends not ever telling them. Some things are just best left unsaid.

Good points.

Also kids are very honest. If you tell them nothing is wrong with being zoo and they go to school and quite innocently start talking about it, it could be catastrophic for the child, the parents, and the animal.

Just let the grass grow and the water flow.

I would never encourage or even tell my kids about my k9 activities.

I have had no problems with the "generation gap". We live on a large ranch and raise horses and cattle. My grandfather had sex (and still does)with our female animals, my father does it too, I tried it and heifers are my favourite, my 3 sons also like mating with our female animals. It seems to be a natural thing with us.

That is very interesting but how was the topic approached and do the women in your family know about it? Are they involved in any of the activites? Sorry If i am prying.

To everyone thank you so much for the feed back...it has been very helpful I am not pregnant nor have any children but i didn't want to find myself in a bad situation. So thank you all again.

I think my sex life is private, and even on the internet it still remains private.

I never knew about my parents sex life, nobody knows about my se life and I won't know about my child's sex life.

If he/she is into K9s, and somehow I find out about it, like maybe walking into my knotted daughter, I'd proably try to make it a personal bonding experience (not in the way males are thinking this) by telling her it's okay and tips and how to be safe about it.

Probably the first thing I'd tell her is timing so I don't walk in on her >_<

Please, tell me how I am thinking about this.

Actually I thought your post was insightful and agree that in that particular circumstance, understanding would be the best medicine. Just because I am a male, doesn't mean I immediately assume incest. FYI.

While I have not ever planned on having children nor experienced the slightest desire to have them, if the stars do ever align in such a way as to cause it to happen, I would - aside from dodging all the flying pigs - choose not to reveal my zoophilic tendencies to them. Even though I do strongly believe in open, unmitigated curiosity and acceptance of the differences between us, I still have no doubt that society's influence will overpower my own teachings, and because I cannot control the impressions made it is only safe to assume the worst: that my child/children will see my preferences as unnatural and sick and condemn or even report me because of them. If my relationship with my child/children is similar in degree to that which I have held with animals, I probably could not bear the loss. This is one of the exceptions to my aforementioned personal rule, rooted back to self-preservation is societal sense.

NP, I just know I'll get a PM lol

Plus the though came through my mind that somebody will point it out at one point.

But as I said, if my child is in need of support I'll give it to them. They need help I will help them to the best of my abilities!

Complicated siuation. We will never tell our kids. We will support them in the sense that if they try it, we will give ummm adult (parent guidance) but other than that nope. Our sex life is our sex life!.. lol.

I would quite like kids one day. But I sure as hell wouldn't mention anything about zoophilia. And would make sure they had no idea I was into it at all.
