A 29 year old Ghanaian woman called Emily Mabou married a dog which has the same qualities as her dead father, kind faithful and loyal. Sounds like most dogs to me. Her relatives stayed away, but curious villagers and traditional priests (witchdoctors if you want to be politically incorrect) attended the ceremony. She was asked how she would raise children and said they would adopt. If marriage to a dog is legal in Ghana, what about sex with a dog?

Well in 3rd world s holes like Ghana, women have a subservient status to their husbands. That being the case the wife is expected to do her conjugal duties as often as the husband usually demands. So if the wedding is legal then no doubt her performing her conjugal duty to her "husband" must be. One can only hope. I am surprised though at two things. One that she would know she can't carry said dogs children. Two, that if SHE was smart enough to know that, then why didn't everyone else, witch doctors included, know that?

She must be a very brave and strong woman to mary a dog in a third world country. I hate to think of the fallout that would happen to someone in this country. more power to her. I must admit that I am somewhat jealous.

I think that's a bit silly. Dogs are very loving and can be highly intelligent, but as someone else put it in another thread, marriage is a strictly human thing and dogs don't really commit like that.
I am all for respecting animals and treating them the way you wish to be treated, but you just can't anthropomorphize them like that. The dog doesn't care about marriage, he doesn't want to adopt children, he would rather lick his nuts then go see if there's any tasty rabbit poop in the yard to eat. LOL I kind of think outrageous cases like this hurt us as a community moreso than they help. |

Good for her. I don't think marriage should be so much a legal thing as it is here in the states, and for someone who is zoo exclusive I don't see why they shouldn't be able to. She enjoys being with her dog, he enjoys being with her. So ya know, good for her. A brave, crazy move on her part has paid off.
I'm impressed, and vaguely satisfied. ^_^ |

From what I have learned about canines they are not monogamist like most humans, but it is an interesting situation.

No one has brought up that maybe she had to get married? And did she take the dogs last name or does she have one of thoses hyphenated type names? Does he have a paying job, who is going to pay the rent? Kind of a big step marrage, I wonder if they even talked about it first?

Hmm you're right about that. I also wonder how big a dowry they had to pay the dog to marry her?

FWIW I rather consider that my dog girl and I have what amounts to a "commom law" marrage in so much as we pretty much share the household possesions equally, We share the same bed, physically and sexually, We dine together, although she eats much more of my food than I eat of hers! I work outside the home to earn a living and she is the home maker working to safeguard all the important stuff we have.
Even though we are different species we are opposite gender, feel for each other deeply, and perform with some equal share the many duties of keeping a home. What is marrage? See above. |
