> Conspiracy Theory, Early/mandatory K9 castration anti-zoo?

Do you think the push for earlier and mandatory castration of K9s is deliberately aimed at Zoophiles? (Among their other stated reasons, of course.)

Nothing that nobody hasn't already said (wow...a triple negative); but I don't see it as being anti-zoo. It wouldn't make sense for any organization to use zoophilia as a reason to spay/neuter. Can you imagine how many phone calls and emails they would be bombarded with if they said during a press conference, "It has come to our attention that even responsible pet owners need to spay and neuter their pets, as it makes it more difficult for them to engage in sexual activity with said animals."

Let's face it, bestiality is a topic that is seldom heard of, and when it is, you get a concussion of angry or concerned people for about ten minutes, and then everyone returns to their normal lives. That explosion is something we can all do without.

As for the possibility of it being a non-publicly-known, underlying reason, the possibility is there, but is entirely too slim. It is possible that someone was outraged when they discovered that people do, in fact, make love with their canine companions; and therefore used other reasoning, such as population control, to mandate spaying/neutering. The chances of that are inarguably slim.

I live in L. A. where the neuter/spay laws are getting tough. i once worked with animals in a clinic, and will soon be volunteering at a local shelter. I am pretty sure the laws are due to the pet over population situation.

While beastiality is a known matter to the law and veteranary practice is is really a small problem to them - even they would most likely agree if a dog/ bitch is going to engage in sex doing so with a human partner is "safe sex" as there will not be a pregnancy resulting in animal overpopulation.

PETA on the other hand has even been heard to say that most of the outlandish things they doo are to raise money so they can keep doing outlandish things!

HSUSA and ASPCA run a close second behind them in reasoning
