Hey everyone! I am verging on a desperate zoo. I have no interest in human companionship in any sexual way, but canines interest me. It wouldn't be hard to believe since I have six canine companions here at home. However, they're all spayed/neutered.
Lately, I've been thinking about wild coyotes. It never really struck me until I began thinking of my favorite animal, the wolf. Since there are no wolves where I live, only coyotes and foxes, I thought about them instead. Does anyone out there have relationships with wild coyotes? If so, may I inquire as to how you developed your relationship? 1. How did you find your mate? I've been trying for a few days now, and I haven't noticed any signs of their existence. However, I have heard reports that they do exist where I live by neighbors who have seen them. 2. How did you go about making a relationship with a wild animal? I've heard that coyotes are curious and are normally friendly around humans, but won't usually approach us. Is there a way to create a bond between coyote and you? 3. Any other info. How is it? Was it difficult starting out? Coyote behavior? Thanks all. I appreciate it! ^_^ --RIO1993 |

I'm not familiar with coyotes but anything with any wild animal is very risky. You might be better off getting an unneutered dog instead. That may not be a helpful suggestion right now but I believe coyotes are pack animals and you may find you have more on your hands than you really want. At least get some K9 experience first !

I live in an area with quite a lot of wild coyotes, i've lost two pets to them so far.
My opinion? It wont happen. Coyotes are small, and -extremely- skittish around humans. They hunt in packs, and will run from anything bigger than a medium sized dog. There's really no way you'd be able to have a relationship with one, as you could never get close to it in the first place. |

Yes to the above opinions. Coyotes are beautiful to look at. But even compared to other "urban" wild animals they are extremely nervy and flighty. I don't doubt just making friends with one would be a long slow, if not dangerous process at best. That is not to say its impossible. I've had extremely close relationship with "wild" raccoons. So it is possible to make close friends with wild animals. But coyotes I would class as being one of the hardest to befriend, much less be sexually intimate with.

the only dealings i've had with coyotes were not good ones for example one tried to attack my pony in the pasture. so for safty you would be better getting a unfixed dog. they are a wild animal and should stay that way. even if you were to get one as a pup it will always have that natural wild instinct you would not be able to keep any other pets, anyone that comes to visit you would be seen as a threat and attacked and you yourself could be attacked if viewed as threatening. so why risk it?

We have a boatload of coyotes here-- industrial poultry farms support large populations. Surprisingly, I have never lost a lamb or any other animal to them, so I'm on good terms with them. Anyone with poultry will tell you otherwise, tho'. I've gotten fairly close walking thru' the pasture. A pure coyote (not a coydog, which is a whole other critter) is way too small for a person, timid and solitary (a female and a few pups is about the biggest group I've seen) altho' the sound will make you think there's a dozen. They are very much wild animals.
This thread on wolves would apply in a lot of ways: http://www.beastforum.com/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=140231 |

Coyotes are, as you say, wild animals an as such will be very difficult to befriend. I'd get an unmutilated dog if I were you.
Good luck, LTD |

The chance of anything of anything happening is rather remote but not impossible. But they are a pack animal so be very careful. In the meantime I wouldn't hold my breath waiting to get close to them.

It may be wise to leave anything "wild" alone. This includes some humans too.

If you were lucky enough to get close enough to a living one to touch it you would be doing good - even better if you manage to do so without gitting bit. If you were able to get close enough to touch it it is not acting normal and may well be rabid (BYE Bye! - it was nice knowing you but few humans recover from rabies and if you got bitten and seek help it is a wild animal and unless you happen to kill it at the time of the bite you are going to be in for a long series of extremely painfull shots) The shots to treat Rabies must be given directly into the stomuck.
The next not a good thing is if you are looking for a male their parts are nothing to write home to mother about - akin to a smaller mediun dog. If you are looking for a bitch - she is going to be smaller than the average border collie and in almost all cases too small for a human even in dripping heat If you are that interested in k-9 sex buy, rent, borrow or heaven forbid steal a dog but stay with a dog - you MAY live long enough to at least explain it to the law! happy hunting |

Think about it. The guy has an open account with ACME Products Co. I wouldn't mess with him.
