as a general rule it is a good one but each girl will be different and be ready at different times, some earlier some later. My female shep girl i have now we had our first time when she was about 9 months, completely her choosing, was just doing some fondleing and stuff when she pushed back onto me sliding me all the way in vice just playing with pussy lips. She showed no sign of any discomfort, but rather loved it and got completely into it. So while it's a good rule, there can be exceptionts but i think the most important rule is don't force your girl, wait until "she" is ready, weather that's 9 months or 2 years or longer.


Tundra

I greatly favor Danes, and as a giant breed they are slower to mature. I would agree with Tundra that there is not a hard and fast rule, it is up to when she is good with it, and with Danes that is seldom under 2 years. She will let you know; as long as she jumps away and avoids contact, or has to be held, she's not ready. When she acts comfortable with your advances, even helpful, then it's time. :D

Because different sized dogs mature at different rates, this rule is just a suggestion. It can occur before or long after, but I think that if she is your dog and you know her well enough, you will know when the time is right. Small breeds reach the point of maturity faster (I know you can't do much of anything with them), and the larger, giant breeds, as neandernitz has said, take longer to reach that point. And then even among the same sized dogs, an individual may age faster or slower than another.

Nothing in this world is uniform with one set of rules, but with all dogs breeds they each mature at different times. From what I have seen of labs and bigger dogs, usually by the time of their second season they will properly be of sufficient stature to be able to accommodate the average male. :thinking:

:devil2: its a matter of friendship yur not grabbing a girldog off the street if yur kind and jentle with an animal and they trust U wont hurt them , they will B inclined to let u play with there private area,s this bonding doesn,t happen overnight , common sence to the size of dog is important ,animals mature at different age just like humans , dogs usually have there first heat from 9months to 1 yr of age , then every 6months there after so usually about 1 month prior to there 2nd heat period u can start playing with there pussy so when they come into heat they will accept U servicing them :inlove:
