I haven't really looked around much, but I think I saw a woman at the mall with a zeta pin. It's a good thing most people don't know what that means, but seriously a pin isn't the best way to covertly express this, since pins are so eye-catching.

QUOTE (misty57 @ Dec 15 2008, 03:10 AM)
I wanted to see just how many people would pick up on the word Zeta so I used it in a user name on a dating site. About 3000 people looked at that profile and only knew what it meant. I also read somewhere that some people are using the symbol in the title of their post as a way of letting others know of their interest.

Yeah I can understand that. Thing about sites like those is you have to be discreet. Very, very much so; Unlike here (where pretty much all the members share the common interest), the majority of people don't join dating services looking for people into zoo/beast. And due to the legal issues, you can't really specify anything in a profile.

One reason I like the idea of a pendant or ring; it's subtle and wouldn't attract the wrong kind of attention.

Then again, I wonder just how commonly-known the zeta sign is in the community. I'd imagine there are a number people out there into zoo/beast who didn't know the significance of the symbol. I didn't know about it until I joined BF. :pinch:

I'm in the same boat as you. If you had asked me what the Zeta symbol meant about a year ago I would've given you a puzzled look.

Still, that can work in our favor. If you know what the symbol means it's a good indication you've explored your zoophilia to some degree, and as always, it's obscure enough to avoid garnering too much attention. I'm sure most people would accept the explanation, "It's my old fraternity's/sorority's logo" if they asked.

Then again, I wonder just how commonly-known the zeta sign is in the community.  I'd imagine there are a number people out there into zoo/beast who didn't know the significance of the symbol.  I didn't know about it until I joined BF.

I've had to explain to a couple of zoophiles what it means after showing them my pin. They were plenty into the scene, they had just never encountered the zeta before that. When asked, I don't even tell people the name of the letter, lest they Google it or somesuch. Doing so won't turn up anything about zoophilia on the first page, but it could lead them to Wikipedia, wherein it's occasionally listed on either of the following pages as having an association with zoophilia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeta
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeta_(disambiguation)#Other

Every so often I'll go on there and delete anything that's popped up zoo-wise, though that may be unnecessary as there is so much symbolism attached to the letter.

A few days ago I wore a collar and a fuzzy tail into work for absolutely no reason, and everyone got a kick out of it. A few people called me a furry (which I am, but I denied it), but most just thought it was the coolest thing ever. I may have to start doing that more often.

 I can't begin to tell you how many people I have been around in the past years of me wearing my collar, with the Zeta pendant hanging off on the front of it, have it, and no one yet has said to me that they knew what it was. I've been asked many many times what it was, i tell them it was given to me, to hang on my collar, and that i liked it. I've been all over the country wearing my collar w/ Zeta and no one got pissed about me wearing it, they all laugh, and joke with me, calling me dog, dogboy, bitch, and so on.

That is the ticket with most things like this. Most people think it is funny, that you are some kind of looney toon. After some time, mostly everyone at work doesn't even say anything about it anymore. I get a couple looks time to time at Walmart, and other businesses I go to. Along with my Big Dog Sex T-shirts that
I have...

I had a woman at work asked me where I bought the collar at. She said her son has been bugging her to get him one, she said it was some kind of fad going on in schools that kids were wearing collars. She talked about it several time about getting him one, and he was bugging the crap out of her for it..

And you can also explain that "zeta" pin means you belong to something related to "six", like "class six", "group six" of some organization. "Zeta" can mean "sixth".

I have to agree that zeta pins are a bit too obvious. True , most people won't know what it is , and even if they knew they won't make the connection but most of the friends I wouldn't want to know(from different reasons) and some of my brighter teacher might puzzle it all together.

That being said sometimes , especially at parties or when going out I do wear a leather collar with a paw on the side . Since everyone knows I love wolves and most of the time I wear biker leather they don't find it strange . Some told me it fits well with my hair (almost waist-length )

I saw a zeta symbol once at a seminar in my college , but she was too far and place too crowded to start a discussion. Not to mention I could have been wrong.

Good observation, Darkwrath.

I think someone who wears a certain style or look could go about having a pin or pendant easier than others; That is, someone at your workplace or school who practically never wears any kind of jewelry but suddenly shows up with a strange symbol around their neck or on their shirt...that's going to attract attention.
Whereas someone who typically wears necklaces/pendants, always has a ring on, etc. probably wouldn't get a second glance. I'm not a big jewelry guy but I do wear surf accessories pretty much every day, so no one in my everyday life would know any difference. Same with you with the leatherwear.

Seeing someone wear it at college might be a little tricky; when I first heard the word "Zeta" I immediately thought of a college fraternity or sorority (you know, words like "Alpha", "Beta" and such). The person wearing it could have just been proud of her dorm, ya never know.

That's the tough part of it. With so few people in the lifestyle - and fewer still knowing about the significance of the symbol - the hard part is wanting the zeta sign to be well enough known that zoo/beast lovers can recognize one another, but not so well known that everybody else will know.
I think that's the reason I like the zeta over the paw print, though. Every now and then I'll be behind someone in traffic who has one of those vanity license plate frames with the paws all over it. It would be nice to think they may be "one of us"...but realistically it's probably just your typical animal lover.

My buddy just gave me the OK to post the rest of the finished pins and pendants. The price will be $65 for either a pin or pendant and there is an option to have the background black enameled for $10 more.

Anyone interested in getting one of these can PM me and I can give you the email address for the guy who is making these so you can place your order.
