I wore a collar petty much 24/7 when I was younger... and agree waht a shame it is that we can't keep on getting away with it in most cases. I stopped about six months ago as I'm getting up there in my university education and professionality really plays an important role on my options now. I don't understand why others can't see a nice formal collar as professional :S. I'm limited to wearing it while at home and out doing leisure things *sigh*.
I like that idea of wearing a pendant on your collar though, along with a tag even.... Hmmm.... |

I want a collar. I often take my dogs and wear his when he isn't using it. It feels comfortable, so comfortable that I often forget it is there. But I've only worn it inside. There is a site online that makes custom collars meant for humans, and I'm going to order one from there eventually. That collar I would wear only when I do not have to be "professional"

You all have gotten me interested in this collar-wearing deal, and, hopefully with some extra cash coming in around this time of year, I can get one of those Zeta pins to compliment this, which is what seems to be the best match for my "fashion" style. My only concern is the collar being too thick to hold the pin in place...
Ah well. If that's the end result I can always put the pin on something like my messenger bag. This post has been edited by secret_admirer on Dec 11 2008, 11:01 PM |

I'm not to crazy about the leather ones. But I still wear a my doggie collar, and I'm in my 40s.

I would be not get the zeta pin, but get the pendant that has a hole in it so you can put a ring it to hang on the collar. Most of the time the collars come with the ring, if not you can get a real small key ring to hook onto the collar. |

or if you cant find a small keyring, any petco/petsmart/petland has one of those lasertag engraving machines. if you purchase tokens (or just ask the cashier nicely) they have tag rings, and usually more than they need.
and speaking of engraved tags, i've always worn a tag with the name of my dog on it. since my collar days are somewhat rare now i keep the tag on my keychain. Its a nice reminder during work to reach down and feel the bone-shaped tag and get the warm fuzzies knowing who you'll be going home to at the end of the day. you all have definitely re-kindled my desire to wear my collar 24/7 again. the trick now is how to re-introduce it to colleagues and staff, since i came into my current workplace post-collar. when you come in wearing it they tend to just accept it as a package. So thanks all for reminding me to find myself! :) |

You are welcome, and the reason for my name, Mutt, I'm a dog at heart, mine, and soul. :devil2: And the small key ring, you might be able to get one or a couple from your vets. The ones some use to hang dog tags on. The vets may buy bulk boxes of them. Just an idea. |

  When I started my job a few years ago, I was not really wearing a collar full time, like I am now. So I wore it one day to work, and got a lot of comments about, told them it was just something different, something to break up thing around here. Next day was not as bad, and then the next even less. And now it is just a normal thing for everyone at work. But I tell you, if I forget to wear, they let me know about it, " Where the fuck is your collar dog, or some say bitch ?" So it is pretty much an ongoing joke now for over 3 years now. Even the owner of the company stops, asks, " what's the deal with the collar?" Told him, "For people like you to ask questions " He said, "I fucking figured you'd say something like that." He laughs and leaves. Every once in a while now, someone will crack a joke about it, and we all have a laugh. But I keep on wearing it.. Buckup... hope this may help you out with anything you might need to start wearing it again. I'm kinda like an Alpha dog, I'll jump right in to things, and lead the way. Weather any one follows or not . :devil2: |

Has anyone considered just wearing a pin from your local Zoo? It'd be even more subtle than a zeta pin, but it would actually have the words "Houston Zoo", or "Calgary Zoo", or whatever on it! If you don't support those kinds of zoos... ebay? They've got'em for $0.99 and up. The downside is... lotsa people love zoos(& aquariums) If someone else was zooey and asked the smile would probably put it all together though. The upside is they have practically unlimited deniability :whistling: |

That's a good idea, lilshyone. There's actually a zoo just outside the city I live in...maybe I'll check out their gift shop. B)

Okies... well I went to the Zoo today...
People are so immature... we were watching the Mandrills when one of the males mounted another.. people with their kids were acting like 10 year olds like they'd never seen sex before. I could watch primates all day.. I love watching them groom each other and how they care for one another. On the way out I stopped at the gift shop and bought a necklace and a pendant.. the paw one came on a necklace.. the heart-shaped "Houston Zoo" one did not. They cost about $6 each. If anyone in Houston wants one I could go back and pick up half a dozen more... for $9/each I will mail them wherever... or if you have a male dog that needs a bitch i'll gladly bring extras with me for free just PM ;) Attached Image ( Click on thumbnail to view full size image ) ![]() |

I wanted to see just how many people would pick up on the word Zeta so I used it in a user name on a dating site. About 3000 people looked at that profile and only knew what it meant. I also read somewhere that some people are using the symbol in the title of their post as a way of letting others know of their interest.

I forgot to mention that the paw pendant is also a "mood ring".. the packaging says Purple means passion...
