I'm one of those crazies who saw it in regular theaters (and now i'm kicking myself i didn't see it in 3D.. d'oh!)
i thought the film was better than I expected out of the Disney story crew, with animation to match. simple, basic, yet effective. *puts on professional animator hat* :P as for the movie itself, i personally thought it was worth my money. I wouldn't rush to see it again by any means, but it was a good little film. Stealth, the group i went with (as well as myself) also had some dubious opinions about voice actors going into the theater, but to be perfectly honest John Travolta did a smashing job! I was impressed with his efforts. 'penny', though... whiny, annoying, typical tween. That was easily the worst part of the voice acting. but overall the horrible music was the worst part. there was so much hannah montanna or however you spell her name product placement that it was sickening. but if you have a dog, this is a great laugh. theres a montage of the cat (mittens) teaching Bolt how to just 'be a dog'. that's definitely chuckle-worthy. ^_^ |

I've seen it twice, both in 3D. Have to say it's probably my favorite movie. Really, really enjoyed it. Funny enough, haven't really had any yiffy thoughts about him. The film was so moving that I stay inspired to this day. Saw it opening Saturday, and the following Saturday. I may spring for a Blu-Ray player when it comes out on Blu-Ray.
To me, it was way more touching than funny. I think I maybe laughed a couple of times, and teared up quite a few more than that. Can't think of one bad thing to say about it. I was enthralled the whole time. This post has been edited by NanakiWolfMon on Dec 3 2008, 01:58 AM |

Two little complaints:
Why is Bolt's head so huge? And why does Mittens the cat have human-style eyes instead of cat eyes? Otherwise it was pretty good, certainly better than Wall-E. The 3-D technology worked very well, but I'm not sure it added to the experience enough to be worth the $2.00 premium. One scene that stuck with me was after the end of the first big action sequence. Bolt and Penny went back to his trailer, but the poor dog was so completely wired, on a sleep-deprived paranoid hair-trigger edge, he couldn't relax at all. It was really effective to show that even for a dog with unquestioning confidence in his super powers, to be forced to battle a James Bond-style super villain every day to protect his girl is just too much to ask, and the stress was taking its toll on him. Does your dog feel stress every day? |

Well I would have been more concerned that he was living a Truman Show like existence. But his sense of smell must have been gone since he couldn't smell the same scents of the sets and kraft services everyday.
