I think you need the Halmark network...... this is BF.... we're not here to say happy birthday and sing cumbya.... well you are..... me... i'm here to read the stories and download everything that will fit on my computer.... as for fakers... so what... half of the towns in the US have such backassed moral codes on the books you could get jail time or fines just for being on here... we are all seen as perverts and of course that immediately makes us all child molesters and rapests... well that's how the media portays us every time someone is outted in public.... but as long as we can keep this entire birthday scandel at the top of the list of problems...

screw the birthdays.... i'm just trying to stay on the christmas list biggrin.gif

Errrrr, what are you talking off, PhybrOptk?

I'm talking about nothing.... 100% nothing... matter of fact i'm talking about less than nothing...

But if I'm talking about nothing... then that means i'm talking about something...

Help me.... i'm stuck in a logic loop.......

2 wrongs don't make a right, but 3 rights make a left..........

QUOTE (noctambulist @ Jul 29 2008, 05:12 PM)

My bottom line: Precisely! All I'm asking for is that the "Today's Birthdays" section show the validating and banned members EXACTLY as they are shown in the other section. That is (to repeat myself) the validating members in italics and the banned members with lines through their names. Then, I wouldn't waste my time clicking on names on the "Today's Birthdays" list that were either validating or banned. All I'm asking for is that the same visual clues available on the other section be available on the "Today's Birthdays" section.

Capiche?

That is a typical day at BF, are you trying to tell us you would send them all a pm for their birthday? If you knew which weren't vaidating or banned?

If you have time for 50+ pms a day, a few extra mouse clicks on validating or banned members should not be a problem

and by the way, you were here on my birthday, why didn't I get a pm???

, I'm dreadfully sorry to have not wished you a happy birthday, so please allow me to wish you a very merry unbirthday!

There are times I haven't been able to get on line for a day or even for several days at a time. I've been hospitalized twice for a week or so this year so far. Perhaps your birthday fell on one of those days. I owe you a "10" for missing it, too. So, consider a "10" on the way!

tehwicked1, that comment was dripping with sarcasm and not to have been taken seriously!

If the BF were indeed perfect, there would be no need for a "Suggestions and Feedback" topic, now, would there? The "Suggestions and Feedback" topic didn't say only MAJOR problems need be discussed. Nor was there any suggestion that if things are working well enough or if the problem could be lived with that it shouldn't be mentioned. It seemed to me that it was an invitation to brainstorm. The fastest way to kill a good brainstorming session is to start rejecting suggestions out of hand or personally ridiculing users who give the feedback.

I never tried to suggest that the problems I had encountered in the "Today's Birthdays" section were major or serious in nature. They do seem to be things that could very easily corrected, though, the next time a programmer is modifying the file. I've done this sort of thing before. I would have had no problem being told that the problem was acknowledged and would be corrected the next time someone was looking at that section of the code. The problem is that one section handles validating members and banned members one way while another section handles them differently. It's one of inconsistency. The way certain super mods have chosen to reply to the issue certainly was unexpected. Not that I'm criticizing them, which I would never do.

I'm just sorry as hell that I even brought the matter up to the "Suggestions and Feedback" section and, believe me, I won't do it again.

So, this is how my suggestions and feedback are going to be dealt with by "management?" Ad hominem attacks on me, rather than addressing the issues I've raised? Making sport of those who make suggestions or give feedback in good faith is (or should be) beneath you.

OK, well, how about this: The BF is perfect the way it is and there's nothing anyone could possibly do to improve it! I love it! You won't find me making any suggestions or feedback to improve upon perfection, anymore! You may as well lock this thread up, 'cause it's over.

we are very open for *decent* suggestions - however if it's suggestions that (compared to time/value) won't bring anything to the forum then they are voted down.

The person wanting to be aboe to see status easier was just PM'ing everyone hoping to get laid ... sad but true ... The forum is not a dating site - it can be used to make contact to others, true, but it's not a dating site as such.

Hope that it clears things up.

So what is a good suggestion?

Lets have a look:

"Make people fill out their forum profile before being allowed entry into the chatroom - and then automatically sync the data between the beastforum profile and the chatroom..."

GOOD SUGGESTION

"Show your daily download credits in a nice and easy way..."

ALSO A GOOD SUGGESTION

... If you got any then shoot! If they are good they will be consideret ... if they are just for your own benefit and your own benefit alone then they are very likely NOT implemented.

Remember - time and money is limited ... Implementing new features takes time - and time is money ...

B.

So, adding a field for "annual salary" is out of the question? I'd find that VERY useful!!

Ya know we users never really know what it takes to keep a site like this running. I work as a programmer, and it takes a lot just to do the littlest things. Some just don't appreciate the hard work.

I certainly do cause I know the hassle it can be. Esp. when code doesn't do what you expect it to, or worse, the dreaded logic errors.

and the moderators do a wonderful job! Anyone who thinks differently just doesn't understand how much work they put into this site.
