You also have to remember other factors when getting a dog besides sex. How much exercise she needs, how much room they need, is your house/yard big enough, shedding, how long the coat, weather tolerances, stuff like that. But I'm sure you knew all that. ^_^

Tecno, I think you have to really think very seriously about what owning a dog actually involves. It's a serious commitment of time, love and lots of money for anywhere from eight to seventeen years depending on the dog's breed, size and health. Generally the larger the breed, the shorter the life span and that's really unfortunate if you become extremely close to that dog and it becomes your lover. You have to give it plenty of love, and you must walk it every day, in all kinds of weather to make sure that it gets enough exercise.

then too, there is no guarantee that the dog you get will want to or even allow you to have sex with it. There are many dogs that simply aren't interested and they have the right to say no. First you must build up trust so that the dog realizes that you would never hurt it and that all you want to do is look after it and make it feel as comfortable as possible. Then after trust comes love, and a dog's love, even without any sex is still a very beautiful thing, because it's unconditional and it will last as long as the dog lives unless heaven forbid, you abuse it. In fact, many people here on this board feel that the love between them and their dog is the most important aspect of their relationship and the sex is just the icing on the cake. Actually this is where many people find that their relationship with their dog ends up being stuck, in the love part of the relationship but they find that their dog isn't interested in a sexual relationship. If you were to get a dog and then you found over time that no matter how hard you tried to coax that dog into having sex with you, would you still be prepared to keep it? Would you still love it? Would you still be willing to care for it and pay for its shots and other possible unexpected costs due to health issues? As other people have said here, a dog is not a sex toy, it is a living breathing being that can give you a lot of love. I just hope you are willing and prepared to give this dog as much love in return, even if it doesn't show any interest in a sexual relationship. These are just a few things to think about before you make that big committment.
