I think that how you respond to this topic depends greatly on why you are attracted to animals. I think that some mindsets are very keyed in to having multiple kinks (which sounds kinder than perversions). Somebody mentioned the urge to do taboo things. I have that urge. I met a girl who has the same urge online. We have about 4 pretty unusual kinks in common. That's really improbable going by the numbers... unless you accept that we just generally tend to be into weird stuff.

There's another influence which is largely generation specific: the internet. I think it has broadened a lot of people's sexual horizons. If you stumble across some weird porn by accident when you're a young teenager, it may not do it for you at the time, but it opens up the possibilities for you. By seeing that, you know that people do all kinds of stuff. Whatever crazy things you've thought about... probably someone else is doing it every night. I guess it reduces prejudice about sexual practices.

Is there a thread around about reasons behind being a zoo? I think that trust issues may be one driver for some people. If you have a hard time trusting people, better to cut them out and stick with the animals. Dogs are loyal, loving, don't fake orgasms, don't gossip about you, etc etc etc. Or am I reading too much into this? ;)

To me, actually, I'm the opposite. Let me elaborate...

I have a really hard time doing anything sexual with my own animals, and I recently realized why. It's because, as their 'mom,' I've raised them from infancy, caring for them as if they were my 'children' because, essentially, they are. So to me, combining sexual relations with MY dogs is, essentially, 'family fun', haha. I just can't bring myself to really do it, I just feel extremely guilty about it afterwards.

Not that there is anything wrong with people who use thier own animals, and not that there is anything wrong with people who are into a little 'family fun', it's just the way I feel about my own situation.

Does anyone have a similar opinion?

That's definitely an interesting an insightful way of viewing it, oties. I hadn't thought about it that way (and since reading this thread for the first time, I've put a fair amount of thought into it :blush: ).

oties, that's a very good point and one I thought of when someone referred to me being my dog's "mommy" I was thinking how can I be my dog's mommy when I see him as a mate? Of course, I couldn't say anything like that. :blush:

That's sort of the vein I was thinking along, although perhaps moving in a little different direction...I do consider pets to be "part of the family", so from that viewpoint it would seem logical that I would have an interest in both lifestyles (I really don't like the word "perversion"...it makes things sound unhealthy. -_- )...which having reflected upon the "family" side of the survey, turns out I do to some degree. :blush:

But again, oties point was very refreshing and insightful. Which I always love reading in threads here on BF. ^_^

At any rate, as different as the two interests may be they do have some common ideals...trust, unconditional love, special bonds, etc.

I'd say there must be a reason a poll would come up with these results, but still I don't really see a link. In my mind, there's people that are into certain things (Like we are), people who deny they're into anything ('Normal' folks), and people who are disgusted by nothing (These would be the more unsavory characters, usually but not always). So perhaps this poll ended up with a majority of takers in the third category.

No, I'm not a pedophile, though I like cub art sometimes.

The only reason Zoo is illegal because there is no money to be made that gov't are aware of, no one pays for it or taxes it. Even if there are zoo like brothels only the proprietor is making money and the movies, only the actor and director. See the gov't hate anything they can't make money off of. Straight sex is legal because it keeps up population but also people will buy condoms, and birth control pills. Also sometimes there is religious ideals at play here.
