Good link, thanks for that!
What I'm always missing is the prevalence/incidence rate of these zoonoses in people. I know, it's very hard to acquire reliable and representative data for this, but that would tell us how likely an infection would be. Furthermore, the vector of infection is sometimes possibly incomplete. Contact with poop, right, but what about sperm? My bitch's genital fluids? Saliva? My pet's coat? What if I french kiss with my dog? If is have oral sex with it? If I make love with her? Of if a male dog makes love with me? Now, these questions are really difficult to answer as there are no data at all available! Also, I care great a deal about the opposite direction: What diseases can my dog get from me? Our hygiene is usually good (mine is), and a healthy dog's immune system is strong, but still I'm sure there are diseases we can pass on to them. Interesting thread (again), I must say. Prank |

All those questions are actually easily answered... you just have to figure out how its spread from animal to animal. Animal to human will be the same way.

Re: Parasites...
Regular daily life on the farm is FULL of splats, spills, and unexpected exposure to 144 kinds of gack, so some parasite infestation may be unavoidable...  and I would SO not prescribe any medication, but a little research in the PDR reveals that a common worming product we use for our animals is routinely prescribed for human use in those parts of the world where you can get infested through the soles of your feet. I, personally, use it periodically at the label rate--have for years. I would SO not recommend that you do. But I do. Orally--NOT by injection. Because the mere Idea of parasites SO grosses me out... :pinch: :pinch:  |

First of all, hello to everybody since this is my first post in this great forum.
I love the idea of getting licked by a dog but im really scared of parasites or illnesses i could get. I mean, i never had any illnesses after my dog licked my hands or my face but i think its a different thing if she licks my cock. She is a healthy 5yo labrador and i would like to now what i can do to prevent getting some nasty parasites she might have on her tongue. thanks  This post has been edited by Angusmcdangus on May 20 2008, 05:01 PM |
