There have been questions posted regarding the possibility of allergic reactions during or after sexual contact. Having an allergy to the semen of an animal is very possible, and the introduction of semen into the mouth, vagina or anus allows fast absorption because of the nature of the tissue (mucus membrane). Penile contact with the vaginal or anal tissue of another species involves less exposure and may show symptoms of an allergic reaction more slowly, showing up after repeated experiences. If the contact is with the animal’s tongue, there can be a sensitivity reaction just because of the repetition. The tongue is intended in animal’s life to perform many activities. Irritation and tenderness will pass quickly; a cold pack will provide comfort if needed.

An allergic reaction can be expressed as a mild reaction, such as eczema, hives, hay fever and asthma. An Anaphylactic reaction can be life threatening, the entire system reacts. Noticeable symptoms are severe difficulty in breathing and a sudden drop in blood pressure resulting in fainting or loss of consciousness. This is a life-threatening Emergency, oral medications will not be able to fix this condition. Seek emergency help immediately. You do not have to reveal what precipitated the reaction. The treatment will be the same no matter what the cause. However getting dressed, if possible will help deter certain lines of questions.

The tendency to respond in an allergic fashion is an inherited trait. If you have had past allergic reactions, you are apt to be sensitive to more things in your environment. If you do have a history of allergies, proceed cautiously with this new erotic experience. Allergies do not get better over time, they get worse. If you have had an Anaphylactic reaction ever in your life, stick to movies…Since semen is a foreign protein, the body will most likely respond in a very life threatening way.

Treatments of Allergies are many and varied. Avoidance, medication, and desensitization injections (these shots take years to work and since animals can be removed easily from the environment, most insurance companies will not pay for them) Medication that is used to treat allergies are commonly called anti histamines. Over the counter medication include, Benadryl
(diphenhydramine) 25-50mg every 4-6 hrs, maximum daily dose is 400mg per day. Claritin (loratadine) 10mg once a day. Zantac ( ranitidine) 150mg twice a day ( yes, I know it is usually used to treat heartburn but it is also an antihistamine ) Barrier methods are not very effective as condoms are constructed for humans and the anti spermicidal condoms are irritating to the mucus membranes of the dog. There has been mention of an “EpiPen”, The active ingredient is Epinephrine, and this medication can only be obtained with a prescription. There are health risks inherent in the medication itself, and should be used only by the person it is prescribed, whose physician is aware of the person’s health history. Allergy symptoms get increasingly worse with each exposure to the allergen (whether it is semen, bee stings or pollen) .

To my knowledge there is no way to test for an allergy to semen pre exposure. I have read suggestions to try “scratch” tests with the semen, however the scratching itself can cause irritation and end up confusing the issue. Taking a small amount of semen and putting it on the forearm and covering it with plastic wrap and leaving it over night may help with the question of possible reactions. If the area is red or red and raised, proceed with caution.

If you have questions, I will try to answer them or leave you links to areas of information to read. The Forum is a great storehouse of information and support, both written and in the community.

~~ Take care, ms dee~~

Thanks for the 411 Ms. Dee! While I have not experienced and allergic reactions ( thankfully) I did want to mention that it is possible for the animals to be allergic to us! Strong soaps, perfumes, oils and lotions should probably be avoided. Since they can smell 1 part urine in 1 Million parts water their olfactory organs (smell) are ver sensitive. Before my encounters I generally bathe in Ivory or another neutral or unscented soap.

For those of you who have not read my posts, Lucas my first lover a 5 yo Weinmaraner and I had to amend the nature of our relationship to "just friends."After a 'date,' a month or so ago Lucas was sneezing and wheezing and having a great deal of difficulty breathing when we left. Lucas is very very oral and i am a squirter. Evidently he is allergic to my "juices,". The Vet had to give him a shot and he is fine now. His owner of course did not disclose the nature of the irritant. I love him dearly and of course would never do anything to put him in harms way. I have been told that administering Benadryl before an encounter would prevent such a reaction. It is not my pet and I love and respect and consider both Lucas and his owner friends. Still I am not sure I would risk giving an animal human medications unless it was approved by a Vet.

In the spirit of this thread I thought I would offer this up for information sake.

I thought this was a brilliant and much needed topic before I came back to read it again this evening.

I was playing with my 7 and a half month old puppy tonight ...... purely normal playing and nothing sexual just to be clear. I was wearing a short sleeved top and whilst playing he mouthed my left arm a lot, much more so then usual. He's a Lab / Dobie cross so produces a lot of saliva no matter what he's doing, but I noticed after a while my arm got red, blotchy, itchy and sore with a few little weals on it. The redness died down after about an hour and a half and the itching, although the skin still feels somewhat tender.

On reading ms dee's post again it seems that there was a sensitivity reaction due to the repetition which on further reading isn't that surprising as I do have hayfever, asthma and allergic reactions to other things such as dust, melons (!!!) etc. So I guess in future if that happens I'l have to be more careful and wear something with sleeves and some anti histamine cream in my First Aid box would be a good idea too.

Thanks ms dee ;) ....... and a 10 too

excellent topic. It answers a lot of questions, but I have a new one for you. I am allergic to many things. I had a dog as a child, and she did not severely effect me. I am allergic to cats as well, but have become better with more exposure. My allergies have improved over the years. I am interested in having relations with a female dog. you discussed reactions to a dogs semen. What about a man reacting to a females secretions? it it as likely to cause a reaction? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks for raising an Important subject, and giving some very helpful info. :)

This topic was covered in the first paragraph, perhaps more detail would help …The opening of the penis, the meatus, is a mucus membrane so does allow easier absorption of allergens. The skin of the penis is not as absorptive. An allergic response may develop, but it may be slower in development. Since you have a history of allergies. I would proceed cautiously.

With allergies there seems to be a stacking effect. The more allergens (substances that your body is allergic to) you are exposed to, the more quickly your body responds to them all. This could explain why your allergy to cats has lessened.

Thank you for your post Curious1looking. I did miss addressing that particular area. Localized skin response can be treated with Benadryl cream or gel and also with hydrocortisone cream. Both are available over the counter. I would also suggest an ice pack (wrapped in cloth). Ice stops the biochemical reaction that causes the swelling.

I also realize that I have only addressed OTC medication in the USA. I will be adding medications from Great Britain after I do the reading. If you have suggestions on this, please pm me through the forum. Since I am only conversant in English, and the forum is English based I will not try to cover any other countries.

I recall reading about a woman who had a severe allergic reaction to dog cum in the stories section, I will see if I can find it and post the link here. It would be good to see a first person account here.
