I honestly don't remember... I was much more interested in animals mating, the zoo thing first struck me as disgusting. Still does sometimes... I still much prefer horses breeding than anything else. Hard to say when I first got interested but pretty much my whole life I had the idea of trying and I took advantage every chance I had.
