Floyd's family had been careing for this library since the beginning when the great equine mage had created it. The post of head librarian passed solemly to the firstborne of each generation. The task of keeping each book in it's apointed place and knowing at a moments notice was taken seriosly. Each book was a treasure and was treated as such by the hobgoblin. Floyd enjoyed his life here, hidden amoungst the tomes and scrolls. He only had one problem, he never knew how to sort them all. Thus from one week to the next mage would find it difficult to find any particular book, for Floyd would have placed them in a new order.

No one ever see's Floyd though, that is a hobgoblins way. But Aiden suspects he has one, always had. So he always forgets a muffin or coffe or some other treat. Such is the way to keep ones hobgoblin happy if you have one. In return Floyd keeps the library spotlessly clean, the lamps full, and the books in the best shape possible. And if someone mentions a book they can't find soon enough it will be sitting on the next reading table around the corner, if not the one behind you.

Rules

1 No fighting in this library please.
2 Do not see Floyd directly, you may catch a shadow or something out of the corner of your eye nothing more

This Library exists out of sink with reality and has multiple entry points Chief amoung them

1 Aidens Apothecary
2 Aisling Cottage
3 Equine1's Apartment
4 Aidens blacksmithshop and stables

There could be more doors its hard to tell Some exist only briefly, Remember this is a very large library containing at least one copy of any book ever written.

^_^ Have fun

*Floyd sat under a set of stairs hidden from view. He was reading a book, munching on a box of cookies the mage had forgotten the other day. It was one of Floyds favorite books as he had read it several times before. It was a well deserved break as he had just finished resorting the books an hour ago. He chuckled to himself, weather this was due to a funny part of the book, or the anticipated reaction Aiden would have when he discovered he couldn't find a blasted thing was hard to tell. Not even Floyd would be able to say for sure which it was.

OOC ~ I've been asked if you have to come from one of the set area's. The answer is no The set points of entry are for ease of use, and makes it easy for Aiden and others to visit his other places. A shortcut as it were. As for entry to a library anyone can find a pathway to the library if they look for it. It may be a hollow under a tree, a doorway, an arch. whatever you want it to be. It will apear for you journey to this library and you may leave by that route and continue your journey, or you can use one of the set doorways that Aiden has set up for conveniance. Its all up to you. use your imagination and have fun

*Slipping into the library from Aiden's apartment, I place the book I had been reading back on a table, smiling softly, leaving a small bowl of steaming stew and a blueberry cheesecake beside it before going to the shelves, my fingers sliding along the spines, trying to find the book I had seen in that spot the other day*

"Damn..."

*I whisper aloud, as I realize the shelves had been resorted, I begin walking up and down the aisles, before remembering what Aiden had told me about asking for a book aloud...*

"I can't find the book on dreams and dreamwalking"

*Continuing to look, I just about give up when I round another corner, coming to another set of tables...*

From somewhere in the library a loud yelp and a louder thump could be heard as a body fell to the floor followed by a cry of pain. The next were sounds in an ancient language which few can understand. But even the sounds made it clear, that someone was cursing.

Whincing Anpu rose from the ground and patted the dust (may it eb immagined or not) from his body. He took the book he fell out from and looked around where he was.

"Hello? Is there anyone here?"

Name: Anpu

*From his hiding place behind the oak panneled staircase Floyd could smell the aroma of a nice bowl of stew. Slowly he set his book down and peered around the corner. He could see the bowl sitting there beside what looked a lot like a slice of cheesecake. That could only mean that Trys was about somewhere. When she mentioned the book she was looking for he saw her scanning the nearby shelf. Carefully with one eye on Aidens mate backed around a corner and slipped down the starcase to the new dreams section to retrive it.

*Down on the sixteenth floor Floyd was just reaching for the tome when he heard a crash in the next room

By the pixies wand what was that

*Floyd said with annoyance as he placed the book under his arm, turning to investigate only to hear a voice. Thinking better of looking into the crash he headed back upstairs to place the tome where Trys could find it

*Walking past the set of tables, I spy a book there, not being close enough to see what it was, I figured I better check to see if it needed replacing...Picking up the book , I turn it over, reading the cover, I say softly*

"Thank you...."

*Thinking to myself...*

whomever you are...

*I climb into one of the chairs, beginning my research into dreams and the study of dreamwalking and it's dangers.*

I was doing some shopping at the Redwolf Store and found a really sexy little outfit, so I headed toward the dressing room to try it on. I go toward the dressing room at the far end. I open the door and suddenly I vanish, with a big thump I arrive at an unknown place.

I stand up and shake my head wondering what just happened as I look around seeing walls and shelves filled with books. I see many rooms, all filled with shelves of books.

I begin to wander around looking at the books on the shelves. I pick up a book off the shelf, open the cover and begin to read. It is a book about Greek Mythology.

Getting no answer Anpu begins to walk around, always keeping in mind where he started. This looked like a library, but which one? And why had a scroll in his library a portal to this one?

Suddenly he saw a white tail vanishing behind a corner. He followed and saw a female white wolf reading a book.

"Please excuse me? My name is Anpu and I wonder, if you can tell me where I am?"

Alrd has kindly written a very nice description of the library. I think she did a great job. ^_^ I think she deserves a round of applause and some 10 votes for the exellent story below

"Following an old cobblestone walkway up to a large heavy door, the entry seems almost foreboding with the dark wood, and the way it gives you this uncontrollable urge to enter, but what can you do. Pulling the doors open, your eyes are drawn to the inner entryway, walls with old paintings depicting scenes of dragons flying look down. Two mystical winged gargoyles stand guard near the solid oak framed entry as though waiting for just the right time to sweep their claws across the shin of some unsuspecting visitor. Their eyes seem to follow each, bodies crouched ready to pounce at any time. Stepping into the massive library, the darkness of the natural wood paneled walls closes in on one as they enter, giving those who have found their way here the feeling that they are caught up in something more then they'd suspected. Tall beams in the ceiling above and moving down the walls, surround the inner library with a mysterious, haunting feeling."

"As you stop to look up at a painting, it seems to move, but is it your imagination or the light from the imitation torch lighting which dots the walls playing tricks on your eyes? Raising your eyes to follow the double spiraling staircase, an iron banister framing it, as the steps rise upwards towards magnificently ornate balconies. As far as the eye can see, shelves of matching oak tower over each room filled with millions of books, scrolls, and artifacts which lead you to places you could not even imagine."

"The passages which lead you to the next room are lined by suits of armor, like sentrys, who stand majestically waiting for royalty to arrive. A sword gripped in preparation for battle or other service to the one they are assigned to guard. The fully ventilated helmet gives one pause to wonder whether or not any of them will step forth and prevent you from going on."

"At each doorway stands two Knights, their suits of armor accentuated with gold etchings which arch across the breastplate, matching the design on the blade of the sword. The Knights stand beneath shields and spiked flails which hang ready to be used, upon the dark beckoning walls. On another area of the hall, a mace crosses over a war axe while throughout the library hang other reminders of the vicious nature of the men who wore those suits."

*Moving through the halls, you enter another room and realize that each has something in common...a central reading area. Around the outside of the area are heavy tall-backed leather chairs surrounding a glass top covered round-table. Beneath the glass top of the table sits a goblet, gold in color placed delicately on a lace doily. Simple, but is it really as harmless as it seems? In other rooms you find similar tables with glass tops, another holds a steel sword with two serpents entwined on the gold hilt. If one stands close enough to the table to touch it, they would see the sword being unsheathed, and flames erupting from the mouths of the serpent. But was what you see real or just your imagination overacting? Do you dare touch another of the glass topped tables just to find out?*

*Approaching a room at the end of the hall, you notice something slightly different. A slight fog seems to circulate around the doorway, maybe nothing that couldn't be explained away with a change in temperature, or perhaps just the change in lighting, but even the atmosphere seems to shift as you step through the dark oak doorway. As in the other rooms, the towering bookshelves stand majestically over the reading area in the center of the room. Walking along the shelves you notice a large variety of books ranging from modern to very old, possibly out of print hard cover books. What's unusual is there is not a speck of dust anywhere, everything is immaculate no matter where you've been. Magic, a spell, or maybe just a very attuned librarian, it's hard to tell anymore. Picking up a book, you are drawn into the story of King Arthur, the tales of the Round Table, and when you look up to find out how long you've been there, something has changed.*

*No longer are you within the confines of the library, but the world has opened up. You stand among the knights of the Round Table, watching as King Arthur addresses them. Unsure of what to do, maybe someone played an elaborate trick on you, step away from the table, but they all notice, stop and turn to watch. Your heartbeats quickly, unsure of what to do, you meekly step back up to the table, taking your 'place' among those sworn to protect the King. The book lies on the table in front of you, and as the words of a King you'd thought was only in the books greet your ears, you reach out and close the book. With a flash, you are back within the shelves of the library, not quite sure of what happened. Putting the book back on the shelf, you move out to the reading area, searching the shadows for what could have caused this to happen. It is then that you remember what the plaque said above the door as you entered. "Ilya ya vano e'a sina yamen', assa n'at palurin."*

*Setting down your pack and walking over to the reference shelf, you pull out a book on archaic languages, but as soon as you open it, you are thrown into a world of elves and dragons. But before you close the book, you ask the meaning of the words on the plaque. The one you speak to, looks you over as if trying to discern if you are friend or foe, then speaking in a language you can understand, heavily accented, he says "All who step into this place, open other worlds." As he and others step towards you, the book cover shuts and you are again safe in the library.*

*You stand there, your heart racing in your chest as you look around. Over towards the corner in a gold stand, is a large globe. As you near, you can tell its very old, and yet, barely looks used. Cautiously touching your finger to the area of the ancient Roman empire, everything seems to vanish again, only this time you find yourself transported to a place filled with the architecture of ancient Rome. Strolling down the street you see the Coloseum rising above, leaving others in its shadow. To the right is the Arch de Triumphe, and the Pantheon can be seen in the distance. Taking a deep breath to see if this is real, you smile lifting your hands towards the sun. But no more have you done that, then you are back standing before the globe, leaving you wondering what just happened.*

*Returning to where you entered, you look around for your pack, but its nowhere to be seen. That strange slithering sound is heard as you step back through into the hallway, your nerves are on edge right now, and you hurry back to the main room. Along the way crystal balls seem to float on their own along the wall, but it could be an optical illusion..or is it? You hadn't noticed them before, were they there? Do they work? Stepping up to one, your eyes are met with a scene from the last room, and as you watch you see movement near the pack, then a long green thing wraps around it, dragging it away. But its not what you expected. Your eyes widen and you step back from the crystal ball, looking behind you as the end leaves of the vine drop from the ceiling, seeming to reach out for you. Is that blood on its leaves, or just the lighting in the hallway. You race back to the main room, out of breath, trying to find your way back to the place you felt safest. You need to find out what that thing was to stop it if you can.*

*Going to the book catalog you start to open it, but the drawer doesn't give. Instead you speak to yourself, and the drawer, that you need information on vines, and a voice speaks, one which is darkly drawn out, telling you where such books can be found. Startled you jump back, looking at the book catalog, then nodding your head, turn and go to that section. However as you search, you are unable to find the books, they seemed to have been taken from the shelves already. In frustration you turn and seem to catch a glimpse of something out of the corner of your eyes, but was it really there? Hurrying to the end of the aisle, you look around but you're the only one there, however the books you searched for are sitting neatly stacked on the reading table.*

*Searching them for pictures you are careful to not get too caught up in what the books are about, afterall who wants to find themselves amongst vines that come to life. Finally finding an identical picture of the vine, you read about it, realizing that not only does it want what you brought, but it wants you. It is then that you get up, leaving the books behind, and rush out of the library. As you leave, the library keeper steps out of the shadows with a grin, picking up the books and putting them back on the shelf. The Hobgoblin scurries around the library, keeping it immaculate, it is his pride and joy. He asks nothing in return but for maybe a small snack, a cupcake, fruit, muffin, or even something to drink. He is never seen by any, mysterious as the library itself. He seems to be ageless as time itself, treating each book as though it is gold, it seems to be his task, though he considers it more of a pleasure.*

*But you don't ever see Floyd, for that is his name. Instead you start to leave through the massive front doors, but looking back you smile. This was an adventure and one you want to take again and again. Almost reluctantly you step through into the real world again, unable to stop thinking about your next visit. Maybe the mystery of the library reaches beyond the doors, maybe it follows you once you've been there.*

Thanks Alrd ^_^

*walking down the dark shelfs of books feeling a sence of being watched washing over me as I get closer and closer to the section I needed. Pulling the cowl of my cloak over my head then stepping in the shadows feeling better as I come into my element but something was a little strange about these shadows the clung to him and his clothing they seemed alive. Finally making it to the area of the Library he needed and seeming to appear out of no where into the reading area that was well lit and sighing in releif to get out of the shadows*
"Whats this on the table?"
*Picking up the book on the table finding it to be just the one I was looking for I take a seat on the cushioned chair near the light and open the clasp on the black leather bound book and read the elegant blood red script on the pages taking in the vampric langauge like it was own tongue*

*Floyd smiled when Trys thanked him for the book. But there was soon another with her, an Anubite by the looks of it. He called himself Anpu and was asking where he was. Floyd wanted to stay to see what this one said, but he could sense another had dropped in, so he quietly made his escape

*As Floyd walked the halls towards where the catalog was, he could detect the musky scent of tiger in the air. He hadn't got much further when he had heard the old book speak, he now knew what it was that James sought, and so he went to get it. Passing one room Floyd saw a white wolf reading a book of history, one on the greek gods it looked like.

*Comming to the room where the disturbance was earlier Floyd goes to the second level and climbs the oak ladder there. Pushing off the ladder rattles a bit as it glides on it's casters.

I'll have to grease those again

Floyd thought as he slid the book from its apointed place, tucked it under his arm. Sliding down the ladder he lands softly, then without a moments hessitation goes to place the book where James can find it
