I'm kinda new here, but I noticed that there was only one forum skin to 'choose' from. it was quite disappointing. No offense to the current skin but it's a little boring for me and I've always been a fan of choice so I'd like to know why there isn't one.

AFAIK InvisionPowerBoard has always been stingy with their skins... besides making their own I'm not sure there's much BF can do.

so... why don't they?
I've been to many forums that have made their own skins
hell if I knew how I'd make my own
I've taken graphic design for a year in college
and I'm sure I'm not the only artistically talented zoo here

so I say lets make some :D

I've made my own visual customizations to the appearance of the forum, but it requires a special extension for the Firefox browser.

There was an old topic on skins. Not much was said, just a few opinions from other people who also thought it would be nice to have more than 1 option to choose from. In this thread I posted an attachment of one of my early customizations.

I also found this, when I posted a screenshot of my favorite setup, the one I still use. I'm not much of a graphic designer though, so the default forum images are unchanged. I like it a lot, and I think it'd make for a cool skin if it had the proper graphics to go with it.

if the admins ever decide to make skins for the forums, i would glady volunteer to make some :) im very good at photoshop ..

but the idea of making skins makes it less discreet.. if you browse the forum in a public place you know? but then, why would you do that :D

probably because they dont think anything needs to be done about it.

i mean seriously, do you come here to look at pictures, videos, and be a part of a fantabulous community; or do you come here to see what handy dandy skins are available?

is it really that big of a deal?

well it's not a HUGE deal, it just feels like they didn't put enough care into the forum since there are no options is all, I'll live if nothing changes.

at the very least they can allow users to make then and have those available to everyone else

I would also volunteer for designing skins, but I don't have much experience with forum software.

Sometimes different skins aren't a matter of looking pretty. My motivation for customizing my own look was that sometimes it's just too bright to look at. During the night, the later it is and the more tired I am, the more sensitive my eyes get to bright light, sometimes to the point where my eyes start to hurt and cause light headaches. Turning down the monitor brightness wasn't a reliable solution. I managed to solve my own problem, though. If only I could customize the chatroom too...

If new skins are ever considered by the staff at any time in the future, I'd suggest at least a dark forum skin. It doesn't have to look pretty either, just something that's not so bright, if anyone else has similar issues with brightness.

having a darker skin is much easier on the eyes, especially at night

I have always been a fan of changing the skin or home page
of the many forums I attend to.
Its nice to just see a change about every two years.
Keeps things fresh.

Yours with a smile.......... :whistling:

I do have to agree that a darker skin may help at night. I find myself squinting as it gets later. Maybe I should just wear sunglasses ..and an option in the chatroom in the future would be awesome. Though I do have to say over all this site is awesome and does make a constant effort to improve.
