Well, of course mating is instinctual and all, but I know my mate loves me. He cares about me, and wants to make me feel good and be happy as his mate. I'm not sure how many others understand this. I mean I'm sure he didn't "think" about how he felt about me or not, but that he found me an attractive mate and from there affection grew to love and tenderness.
