Ever have a dog drop its toys into your boots when you are not looking?
I've learned to shake my boots out before pulling them on.

the more intelligent the animal, the better their sense of humor usually, the exception goes to animals that don't interact much with people. Sadly, in my job I see a lot of poor dogs chained up and ignored, these dogs, like people who don't socialize much when they are young don't usually develop much of a sense of humor, but there isn't a lot to laugh about when you are abused and neglected. My husband says I am odd, but I tend to judge people on how their animals behave a smiling friendly dog, who likes people is sure sign of a good person in my book.

I once had a chow puppy (maybe 4 months old) I had never seen before walk up to me and roll over, not cowering, just wanting a good belly rub, he was so cute, I liked his owner before I ever spoke to the guy.

You certainly can tell a lot by how happy a persons dog is.

So true we have six mixed breed dogs and they are always cutting up just like kids per my wife.
Her favorite sits up and smiles at her to get her belly scratched, but then swats at her with both feet if she is ignored. She will only let you catch one of the two feet like a game of keep away. Her sister is constantly stealing something from one of the others behind their back and hiding that object. Then she will get over by me like she hasn't done anything.

Heh, I'd have to agree with the consensus... my dog does that type of stuff all the time. Especially when she is trying to get another dog/person to play with her :D Not only that, she also gets frustrated when I am teasing her. She isn't really that vocal, but will growl/bark if I tease her enough... ^_^

Sometimes she will do things that I laugh at when playing... yea, some things she might not do on purpose but nonetheless still funny :D

Kaiser likes to tease with his tennis ball - the game for him isnt throwing and chasing it, its bringing it back to you and chewing it right AT your hand, just waiting for you to try to take it, then he pulls he head away, and brings it straight back for another try!

My chickens, whenever I'm squatting doing a job or something, they run up and peck my builder's bum, but by the time I've turned round to find the culprit, they're gone! :o

I used to have a goat that liked to bite and tug on my jeans then run off and you could almost hear the giggling...

shetland ponies...you could never accuse those guys of not haing a sense of humour!! They are total hedonists...

Absolutely! If you've ever been in a household that has both dogs and cats, you will see that cats like nothing more than smacking a sleeping dog, then jumping up somewhere high that the dog can't reach.

Hmmmmmmmmm,I'd say yes, afterall there is the Laughing Hiena.

While they may not have as a defined,(weird) sense of humor as we humans, just spend time in a stabble or with your k9 and your likely to see it. You ever watched some of those animal clips on AFV or other such programs?
Besides that, you'd have to agree that our domestic animals must have a good sense of humor, afterall they have to put up with our "nonsense"don't they?

Absolutely!!! They have a sense of humor. My German Shepherds play tricks on us and on each other, and just generally love to play almost any time. They absolutely LOVE to play hide and seek, whether its them hiding and jumping out to surprise us and nip us and then hauling ass, or bringing us toys to throw or to hide so they can look for it. And the male loves to carry off one of your shoes and hide it from you.

The male will sometimes jump on the bed when you get up for some reason, and then lay down in your place and wait for you to come back in the room. He'll hunker down as low as he can get and try to hide in the covers, then when you come back in and catch him in bed, and fuss at him, he acts silly & rolls on the bed or he'll take off running off the bed and do a couple of high-speed laps around the room and across the bed. And he's smart enough to know when you're in a bad mood or don't feel good, and won't do stuff to irritate you.

My sister's cockatoo would get near the kitchen and then to do a perfect imitation of the clanking of the can opener and then of her calling the cats to be fed. When the cats would come trotting around the corner headed to the kitchen, the cockatoo would then imitate their big Lab and would bark like crazy at them, scare the hell out of them, and they would run like crazy out of the room. Then the cockatoo would bob his head and screech like crazy, make laughing sounds, and would sometimes even say "Stupid cats!".

That bird used to love to catch the cats sleeping and dive bomb them, or drop things on them. He was constantly scheming and conniving his next trick to play on somebody.

Our dogs are so conniving that I tell folks to "Beware of Smiling Dogs" at my house.

Oh most certainly. But also its much like humans. I forgot who said it (sorry!) but like people, some do, and some don't.

I've heard of dogs appearing to laugh, and I've seen them smile at some things. No doubt when we trip over something and fall, they think it's pretty funny. Especially when they trip us! ;)
