Hey folks, just though i'd toss up soemthing for grabs here and see what kind of feedback that I get.
I have noticed that alot of people will talk to you for awhile then stop for unknown reasons, maby at times there is a reason and they are not wishing to make mention of it or they simply do not wish to discuss it. Anyways it has made me often have second thoughts about the 'integrity" and moreso "Relibility" of "people" as friends, now this can be both looked at as freinds only in general or freinds that are sexually close and intimate with one another. Myself I do not mind being with a human male though (in fact I am wanting to be with one again I think that making love with your dog and having a close freind there with you is quite erotic and nice) I do lean More towards being witha dog then a person..but it would be nice really nice to have soemone to share the dog sex with, also sometimes having a helper as in if you plan on tieing can be quite helpful in that instance. so my question is: "Which do you think you can count on more a dog or a human? We are all different here, if you experience that the contact between you and some other member dies out, you maybe did not share interests enough. Don't let that stop you from further attempts.
Some here are animal-only, some are human-animal oreintated, and some are not even animal lovers. I would perefer dogs, and that is what I do, some othe ranimals could come in question too. But that is for me. Let's se what other ansers you get. |

Dogs are far more reliable. Dogs will defend you to the death, or wait in one spot a lifetime for you to return. People are too wild for that, and most can't do that. People will do well for a short period of time in a group, so people can bond with others, just not like a dog can.

I cant say either one is good or bad over the other ... they both have their pluses and drawbacks... an animal cant give you the benefit of their experience nor can they give you advice on issues that might arise during your life... they can only be a sounding board and constant lovable companion .... for me I NEED the human interaction.. I need to be able to have an intelligent conversation with both parties equally talking and sharing ideas...
even though in the past I have been hurt by a man I still dont give up on men as a whole.. we will never be able to make everyone happy all the time.. it is just a fact of life.. and I for one would never sit back and pull myself out of the world simply because I have been hurt by humans... you live, you love, you learn, and you grow... that is what life is all about ** ps... I couldnt decide if this needed to stay in this section or not :( so for now I will leave it here.. another mod might move it .. also... there are similar threads throughout the forum but as this was dealing with the friendship aspect... so I left it open... please remember to follow the rules :D ** This post has been edited by wyldfyre67 on Mar 24 2006, 07:51 PM |

Which is a better friend? I'm going with people. Dogs are excellent for companionship, but friend? no. Other humans can empathise with you, can draw apon their personal experience to help you through a hard time. A dog durning those hard times will sit with you, listen to you, and be a great companion. Will they give you insight into yourself and your issues you are stuggling with? Not really. To address the statement that humans lose contact easily.
I have lost contact with people in the past. Life happens and you lose touch. You grow, and may move appart (physically/emotional/mentally) Just because you lose contact with someone doesn't mean they are not your friend. It just means they don't talk to you as much anymore. Unless you had a "falling out", they are probably still your friend. I have not spoken with my best friend in 2yrs. Is she still my best friend? You betcha. Do I still love her like a sister? Oh God yes. If we get together next week for lunch will we be as loving and supportive as we were years ago? Yes, we will be. I think perhaps that your definition of "friend" and mine are very different. And thats Okay. :) |

Now I have to agree for certain with all of that. People can do other things too that a dog can't, like scatch that little spot on your back you cant reach, or split dinner. Both can be good friends.
That reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode, with the librarian who couldn't get any peace to read, then a bomb went off, and everyone was gone but him. Finally he could read in peace! Then he dropped his glasses. Even if I prefer a dogs comany, I don't think I would want to dismiss the benefits of human companionship. I tihnk what you are calling companionship I'm calling friendship, and vice versa, but I'm sure not one to mince words. I agree with the content of the entire thread myself. |

thanks guys for the feedback thus far on this really apreciate it.
I guess one thing I was trying to get at by which was better was that with dogs, you never have to worry about them being two faced, that is freinds with you for awhile then later drop out,(or pretend to be and really arn't) and I'm not meaning that in a bad way but over the several years that I have been online I have noticed that alot of folks from the net seem(at least ive had my plenty share of them to act that way, maby they have a legitimate reason for shutting off the convo, maby was busy etc, there are several, I used to work as an admin on a site so I know how things go, Ive been to near all the chats online that there is from Irc, to icq, you name it ive had it on my comp or been thee at one point in time or another been into and been a zoo for 29 years now , I'm not though and expert on the subject and maby folks do things with animals a little differently nowadays then when I started but anyways... Yes I do enjoy human company and for freindship because you cant take a dog into a bar or a fine dining establishment and have a good drink or enjoy a nice quiet dinner together, and while a dogs paws , licks feel good, they cant give you a good rubdown like another person can, they also can't go with you to a ball game or out to a movie so..there is defintte advantages in having people company too. which is one reason I am on the look for some human interaction and company for such forementioned things as well as the zoo and dog doings. But I find it still amazing that people string you along at times and yes thats life and you just have to deal with it but it can be very frustrating. I have alot to offer as far as hosting and company of dogs as well too and not trying to sound egotistic here or anything but I almost have at my disposal an entire kennel to work and play with, not too many folks will up and offer their companions and working dogs like that, and yes to be honest that Does bother me somewhat as I am Very close and intimate with my dog companions and lovers but it also seems that unless you Have or Offer a dog to someone then they don't seem to be interested in you at all and I find that a great disapointment. well enough rambling on that, just wanted to get a few things off my chest here, don't or didn't mean to step on any ones toes if I did. this is just a frustrating position to be in when your nice guy and can't seem to get or make any connections with anyone. (which leaves me to the point and where I said dogs are or are they a best freind? because it seems they are Always there no matter what, and humans cant touch that part, at least ones I have ran into over the years..maby I just too havent met the right "somone" yet. Okay, from that note (quoted), I presume I'm not the only one that really hates that episode of Futurama, am I? [http://loyalty.ytmnd.com/] Daaaamn. I'll say that people can be more understanding friends, but dogs are far more reliable friends. So there's a difference. If you think of times you've been depressed (when friends are most comforting, perhaps), ask which is more touching to you? Someone that can empathize with the particular variety of upset you are experiencing, or the pooch that doesn't understand at all but just desperately wants you to be happy again. Dunno. If I think of what a "friend" means to me, it's more than what a dog is able to offer. If I had to choose between a dog friend and a person friend, the person wins. Usually, but not always. To me it's like asking a mother which of her children she loves most. They're different, not better/worse. Yeah, both are wonderful and precious. So there! :P On the other hand, if you asked whether I prefer the company of "people" or "dogs" in the generic sense - too easy. Dogs, of course, by miles. Sorry about that, "humanity". Better luck next time, okay? :sorry: This post has been edited by cohort on Mar 25 2006, 05:24 PM |

Dogs dont tell secrets, dogs are always happy to see you, they dont care how you look and they love it if you smell, on the downside I have never had any friends poo on the carpet

Friends ask to borrow money, dogs don't.
But then again... Friends loan money, dogs don't. |

People, no offence and i may get a backlash for this comment, but people are better friends - my rationale we understand one another the good and the bad
