I'll make this a nice, short post for a nice, short question :D
In a section at Zoophile.net, there were recommended male dogs to try out. After a couple of popular recommendations, it stated that "Pit Bulls and Saint Bernards have a bad reputation though." I was just curious if anyone knew what their reputations were? I have a feeling Pit Bulls are aggressive and rebellious, suiting to their everyday behavior, but what about Saint Bernards? I have a Bernard bitch that I'm experienced with and am just curious of their reputations, if anyone knows. :) Thanks a bunch~! This post has been edited by xio on Jan 19 2006, 06:40 AM |

Thanks for the thread link!! And thanks for the welcome :) But I'm afraid the thread you linked me to didn't contain anything about Saint Bernards, I couldn't find anything on them, even through using "Find on page". It did, however, inform me well about other breeds, that's for sure!! :w00t: So thanks for that. But I guess my question still stands :D |

Although you already read the Dog Encylopedia, I just wanted to remind of the nature of Pit Bulls. While you do(rarely) find aggressive Pit Bulls, 99% of properly raised Pit Bulls are gentle at heart. My partner is a Pit Bull, and he is very careful not to hurt me in any way. He is also very submissive most of the time, and listens very well. He doesn't have a problem remembering when and where is the right place(I also have a boyfriend who DOESN'T know about my 'extra curricular activities'), and is a very fast learner to new things.
As for Saint Bernards, sorry. I don't really know much about them. Hopefully someone else can direct you to someone that does. |

please remember.. people are the cause of the bad rep for pitbulls... I have met MANY pits that were nothing but bundles of love... they are given a bad "aggressive" attitude by the slimy owners that abuse, mistreat and train them for fighting!
My family owned a st. bernard for years and years.. and he was also a bundle of love.. so I cant imagine a reason why they wouldnt make a good "mate" ... if you treat your animal with respect they will in turn do anything for you! and love you unconditionally! not all dogs are cut out for the sexual aspect ... some will never be interested... some just arent comfortable doing anything with their "master" .. I personally dont think a certain breed is more prone to it or not... |

*nod nod*
I apologize about my assumptions about Pits, you guys are right :) a huge portion of behavior in a dog relies on how it's treated, learned and raised. I, also, can't think of a reason St. Bernards are considered on the site as having bad reputations, as any Bernard I've known has hardly been anything BUT loveable. I guess that's why I'm askin', in case anyone comes by and knows the answer to that ^_^ |
