Okay....it's time. ^_^
I've been longing to try doing art work using the computer and not just traditional means for such a long time...and I've finally drawn up some ink outlines for my first attempts at coloring them on the computer. I started off playing with the computer art stuff by altering pics that hubby took of myself in furry outfits and had a lot of fun with it. But it's time to try my hand at actually creating a drawing on the computer. So here are my first three subjects to play with. I figured I'd post up the original drawings that I did freehand in pencil then inked them. Then I'd post up the same drawings but colored with the computer instead of colored pencils/paint or traditional such as I went along and worked on each ink drawing. I may do each ink drawing several differnt ways while I experiment on the computer art side of all this. I'd really appreciate any and all comments and critiques as this is my first adventure into the world of attempting computer art with my own drawings. No one would ever offend me offering their thoughts on my work that follows...for it would only help me to learn how to do this and do it good. So please....let me know what you think as I present each of these ink drawings I did altered with the computer. Thanks  ~Mrs. Snowbear~ First one....which happens to be only the third furry drawing I've ever done. :) This post has been edited by southflorida on Aug 4 2005, 11:50 PM Attached Image ( Click on thumbnail to view full size image ) ![]() |

And here is my second one....which I kindof like the best so far out of the three I just drew up for my first attempts at coloring them on the computer. I think I'm gonna have fun playing with her....the choices are so many as to turn her into a huskey...skunk...or fox...etc. :D

And now the last one. She's very simple...just kinda turned out that way....funny how when you draw ....the drawing seems to want to go it's own way. She isn't how I originally pictured her when I started drawing her...but I think she turned out kind of nice. I know I'll have fun changing her around from maybe a lioness, a cheeta to maybe even a snowleopard. :D

Have you ever taken figure drawing art classes astro g? They teach you amazing things in those classes...things you never think about really that really help you to draw figures.
Don't be jealous...everything in life is learned some how or another. I'm trying to learn how to use the computer to create art. Thanks for your kind words astro g. :D it's always nice when someone else likes something you did. Okay ...so here is the first layer of "computer paint" :P that I've done so far on one of the ink drawings. I can honestly say it's been a LOT of trial and error....but fun all the same. I don't know if I'm approaching this comp art thing the right way or not. Teaching myself and doing it the only way I know how....layer by layer...just like I paint. This picture is by no means finished yet....I think I'm working toward making her a cheetah right now. Just thought I'd put up what I've done so far and ask for advice. Any words of advice...critiques and such from any of you "experienced" comp artists would be greatly appreciated. :D One thing I know for sure now....it takes a LOT of control in the hand (a lot more than you need with a brush) to get the mouse to "paint" where I want it. LOL  Would have been much easier and faster for me to stick with the traditional techniques  But it is fun trying to learn something new! :D ~Mrs. Snowbear~ This post has been edited by southflorida on Aug 4 2005, 11:56 PM Attached Image ( Click on thumbnail to view full size image ) ![]() |

unfortunately i have not taken figure drawing classes :( . i have taken fine art almost all my life, and 3 years of graphic arts with photoshop and image ready. i was accepted to a fine arts school back in Toronto, Canada, where only the gifted of the arts get in (i don't mean to brag), but i couldn't attend because i was moving to Los Angeles. oh well. i don't know if you are using photoshop, but if you are, i would be glad to answer any questions you have and give advice. i might not be accurate, but i know the program pretty well ^_^
i would love to share my art, but it's not furry/manga art. i don't want to get into trouble for posting non-relevant art. once again, you need help, you know who to talk to :) |

Good work Mrs S! It's always great to see somebody starting new projects and watching how they progress, thank you very much for sharing your great talent with us. :clapping:
On the subject of mouse control, I use a graphics tablet for computer work, the "pen" gives you much more control although it will not give you the flexibility of a nice sable brush!. I don't use Photoshop or Poser so can tell you nothing about them. I do use Corel 2 which I have had for years - it may be a very outdated programme, but it is fairly user friendly and all of the work on my thread has been done with this programme. It is probably fairly obvious that I have attended many life study sessions - indeed my first life class was at the tender age of 12! I still find the human body the most fascinating - and frustrating! - subject to paint or draw. Hope that you never lose your interest and that you continue to produce such excellent work. :drinks: |

Thanks Wagglestaff for both the comments and the tips on mouse control. I really appreciate any help I can get. :D
And Thank you dtdab for your kind words...as always! ;) Well...still using a roller mouse. Although I think I'm going to switch back to my laser mouse. At least I won't have to deal with that dang little ball. lol :P Okay...so I've added spots. Still having fun even though it seems like it takes forever. :D I think I like everything so far except her hair. But hey...it's my first time playing with computer art. I'll probably put this one aside for now and start fiddling with one of the other ones. Keep the advice coming!! :D  Thanks guys!! :friends: ~Mrs. Snowbear~ Attached Image ( Click on thumbnail to view full size image ) ![]() |

Thanks guys for all the nice comments!! It really means a lot to me to hear critiques. I'm truely enjoying exploring all one can do on the computer....it's kind of like finding out you can paint and draw all over again! Get's me excited! About art again...that is... :P
I'm going to get that pen thingy too. That sounds like it's just what I need to really feel comfortable. Or at least not drive myself insane with trying to get the detail that I want out of a rolly ball mouse!. (wish there was a pill one could take for controlling that perfectionism urge...lol) Thanks for mentioning it Wagglestaff. I didn't know about them until you mentioned it. Much appreciated!!! I wish I could go take classes in this stuff...computer art...but just don't have the time right now. Maybe one day. Till then...with the help of you guys...I'll kind of wing it and self teach myself. I'm using Digital Image Suite to create these. I don't think I've even touched the tip of the iceburg with all the different tools and effects that one can use on it. Fun finding out about them though. :D I'm now working on the second ink drawing...the sexy fox/huskey/skunk...(lol what ever she will turn out to be...lol) with the cute butt next. Yiffer...how'd I know you'd like her butt???  :P ;) Right now she looks like she's going to be an artic fox....butt.....I think I'm going to have to do her as a skunk and give her to Yiffer. :D Thanks wifey / wireman / astro g / dtdab / Yiffer & Wagglestaff!!! You all get 10's in my book for showing your appreciation and offering comments to help me out!!!! Much appreciated here. After all...where's the fun in making the art if no one else looks at it? ;) Okay...so I figured...while I'm working on the next ink drawing and transforming it...I'd post up a few of my very early attempts at playing with the computer. These next two are actually pictures Mr. Snowbear took of me in Fox tail play...that I worked on with altering them and trying to make it look like fur on my legs and such. So I guess they are photo manipulations? The first pic was my first attempt at manapulating the photo to try to make it look like fur. It's okay...wasn't overly pleased with it. It didn't come out how I wanted it to...but it did come out okay and kind of looks like a drawing. ~Mrs. Snowbear~ Attached Image ( Click on thumbnail to view full size image ) ![]() |
