Does anyone else get alot of PM's from people who are want to be zoos? They want to meet up with you, even though they don't know what they are doing.

Yes, I do get pms from clueless individuals. I do, however, enjoy steering them in the right direction. I find it very fulfilling to have helped someone else out or at least chatted with them honestly about how they feel. I am definitely not the best person to do this, but I try. One member I went back and forth with was twice my age, and it was interesting to hear his story, and point him to where he might "sample" the thing in question that he fantizised so vividly about.
If I had one complaint about others though, is a lack of communication courtesy.I went back and forth with several members now, all with a post count of 0. They all wanted to know where I lived, but skirted the issue of where they lived and who they were so much that I simply quit replying to their PM's. It is both a frustrating and rewarding task to deal with these people, who I found are often just to intimidated by everything to post. It can be kind of scary posting next to the likes of members who have 10,000 posts. I see where they are coming from. I guess my question is, are you intimidated by this? I am at times. The internet can be full of scary people (me for instance ). I always excercize utmost caution dealing with folks I don't trust (what they don't know can't hurt you) and... Pack a 9 under the drivers seat just in case ... |

I know that it can be a bother to have people PMing alot but I think we should give some of these newbies a break. It is always easy to know the culture of a new place be it a new web site or what ever. For the most part they are harmless and just happy to find a place were other people share their affections for animals. I can never defend all since you will always meet up with jerks but for the most part I have met good people just trying to open up to others here and PMs are a perfect way to try to ask questions without drawing too much attention to yourself. I am sure alot of people will not agree with me but think back to when you were new here and wanted a freind to talk to.
In my own life I have had simular experiences moving from my home in Chicago to Norway to start a new life with my wfe. At first you hope to meet somebody to talk to that can maybe even help you out. It is very lonely for new people. I look back and appriciate so much the ones that helped me out and showed me the ways of a new culture. |

It always helps to be reminded that everyone was once a newbie.. just because ppl havent sorted themselves out yet re:being zoo and all things related.
dosent make them wannabe's or outsiders or hangers on or nuisances ... well you get the point. Everyday i see my online name i remember why i chose it over 8 years ago and why i dont change it, i was 18 and looking for answers that i didnt have and could not sort out by myself, my life was in no position to do so... and i was emotionally alone. but after much searching i found a telnet based chatroom and by sheer luck struck up a conversation with an outstanding human being who genuinely wanted to help me.. he was known then as "thephoenix" well 4 hours of solid chat later... i was no longer alone, sure i had no experience .. but i was more certain of this newly discoverd aspect of myself. at that stage I was a "want to be zoo" as you call it. so .. btw no i dont get many pm's about ppl wanting to meet me, but i still pm ppl about visiting them and i have met over 12 zoo's in various parts of australia, and will meet more.. i have to say meeting them is one of the BEST things that i have ever done, they are all outstanding people. As this illustrates, dont always get annoyed about "can i meet you" but .. get to know em a bit before ignoring them, you might find your turning away someone who could in time be a very good friend *btw thankyou possum for looking after silver for a few months while i was between house rentals* heh reading back over the thread im sorry gregger12 if it sounds like we're all beating on you for saying what you have, absolutely nothing against you persoanlly.. i just didnt agree with the statement that was made, thats all B) . |

hi y'all, i'm a newbie and i really appreciate hearing what the veterans and enthusiasts think. i've sent a few pm's and felt very good about getting a reply, even a short acknowledgement. it's a nice confirmation to get. this is a cool place where new thoughts (newbie thoughts) can be shared anonymously so stepping out is more about fun than being nervous. i really do appreciate the respect and patience that is shown to all, even rookies like me.
thanks big guys, peter3 |

Well,I don't reply to those who want to meet me or f*ck my dog.Hell, they don't even know me,I guess many of them didn't bother to take a look at my profile.Even if I wanted to I couldn't travel anywhere far away. Aside from that,I always answer my PM's :D |

Well I don't get that much pm's at all and you can clearly devide them into 3 parts
You have the ones I consider as friends, then the newbies and then the bestialists. Not much to tell about the first group, they just rock  I love to help out and inform people who are new to the whole thing and want want to make some friends here. I always reply and try to offer them all the help I can and it feels great doing so! I was a newbee too one day and it took me long time to find "my thing". It was confusing and upsetting. If I found BF earlier it could have helped a lot although those earlier moments made me stronger and a tiney bit wiser ;) Then you got the last group <_< where do you live, can I :censored: your dog and so on. They only seem to care for some quick sex and thing that they can just borrow my boy. Only want to share my boy with people that I seriously like and trust all the way, he's just too precious ^_^ Well "live" on the Virgin Islands now and has been a long time since I got such a stupid PM :D |

I very rarely get PMs from folks here (except for a couple of good friends). I welcome all who are genuine, courteous, and not just looking for a QAD thrill. Always glad to help those who are truely curious or needing advice.
