Don't rush in to anything you aren't physically or more importantly psychologically ready for.

If your worried about taking the knot, you could practice with one of the toys that has and inflatable knot. There not inexpensive, but it would certainly give you some assurance about taking the real thing. Several have been suggested on this site.
