Just wondering how risky searching for beastiality related things (pics, vids, articles e.t.c) on the internet is and how likely it is to get in trouble for it in this day and age where everything is being logged and the various articles in the news and papers about people being caught online for various things.

(I live in the UK)

Unless someone has a reason to be tracking your search history (which would otherwise be an invasion of privacy) there's no need to worry.

Virtually no reason to worry, even in the UK.

I follow internet legal issues, and I have never, not even once, seen anyone in the United States arrested for possessing or purchasing bestiality content. Mere possession of it in the US is not a federal crime, and is not in many states, and no law enforcement agencies go after people who are just downloading stuff.

The UK laws are somewhat tighter, but again, going after consumers isn't a priority. Perhaps if in investigating some other crime they had reason to search your hard drive they could cause trouble, but how often do the police just show up and search your hard drive?

Producing or selling such content raise issues, but even then arrests have been very uncommon and usually only happen when someone draws the police attention to a situation, like the son who found his parents' stash of home-made k9 tapes and turned them in. Very, very few sellers of beast porn have had trouble.

Members just reading and downlaoding from BF in the US or the EU have very little reason to worry.

I dont think its so much of a risk, all i would have to say is have separate email addresses and a different screen name then one you would normally use.

Most ppl, friends or family, will get bored and curious and google you lol. so its always safe to have separate things that only you know about :)

Ahh thanks guys.
I can be a bit unecessarily paranoid at times, but as the saying goes... 'prevention is better than cure'.

It pretty much goes without saying about using different emails and usernames e.t.c but i dont really have too much worries about people riffling through my computer and looking me up... It's just more that i hate this world we live in where everything we do is tracked and logged and if the governments had their way they'd even want to know when we take a piss in our own homes...

I'm not ashamed of who i am but it's just a worry that plays in my mind that if i ever did get caught & prosecuted i'd be on the sex offenders register and it would destroy my life.

I assume you mean risk of legal action, not your significant other or mom finding out.

In some countries you could be put in jail (or worse) for having the stories or images on your computer. In Europe or the US your probably safe, as long as there is no mention or images of anyone under 18.

However, in some states you might have years of legal hell, if the law decides to come after you.

as far as i know looking at the sites aren't illegal, well in the U.S. anyways almost anywhere you go, course if you look it up at work or on a government computer, then some action might be taken but as far in the privacy in your own home theres nothing anyone can do, unless you broke into that home to look up porn :P ^_^ .

dont worry about british laws the only people who have ever got convicted are ones who do it directly in the public eye such as the one of a bloke shagging a goat in scotland next to a railway as a train went past and so on

there is roughly 1 in 120 who have had sexual contact with animals in the uk and about one in 40 has some sort of fantasy just look at the uk dating on this site alone there is over 1200 replies and this site is hard to find through major search engines so just think of how many there are

I have never heard or see anyone get in trouble for looking up or owning bestiality and I have been following it for quite some time, that is as long as they are smart about it. As for me i only use my laptop to look up and download stuff on bestiality, and on it i have a external hard drive i store all of my content to and have my browser clear its self every time i close it.

If you are really paranoid you can use firefox and set it to use a free proxy connection, which masks what your ip address is on the website end(free proxies are all over, do a google for free firefox proxy connections) and if you use a packet shaper like cfosspeed it can help hide what you do since it changes how your computer sends packets. Really you dont have much to worry about though.

Edit: I forgot to mention if you keep anything on your computer using truecrypt can take a load off our mind, it basically creates a virtual encrypted hard drive that you can store stuff on, and when it isn't loaded there is no way to tell anything was there.

Just thought I'd add now that I think about that in the US, I'm not even aware of more than one or two cases of anyone in legal trouble for posting or selling bestiality content.

There are cases where police have used a tape as evidence to find and convict the actual person who had sex with the animal.

But, nothing has ever happened to people who have merely distributed pictures, videos, etc., casually. Not even in really obvious ways like posting them to their Yahoo profile. That might cause Yahoo to cancel your profile, but no legal action at all.

There have been one or two cases of someone convicted for selling VHS tapes including bestiality (often along with tapes invoving scat, violence, whatever), but that's made easier by the fact that the laws on sending "obscene" material through the Post Office are particularly tight. I think all the cases I can think of have involved a seller sending physical media through the mail, not internet transfers only.

Bottom line for the US:

Viewing/downloading material: no problem as long as you don't do it at work, the library, whatever.

Posting/sharing material casually online: still no problem in all likelihood

Running a business of it and mailing DVDs to people, not such a good idea.

Legally, I don't know about any problems, but I've had numerous problems with false links that take you to sights you might not want, and more then once, i've gotten viruses, some bad enough where I had to reformat my hard drive. Be careful.
