i was going to get a mastiff...but i love newfies as well...i am torn between the breeds, i have never seen a mastiff in person but i have seen a newfie before, he was a sweetheart but he was in a car so i didn't get to see him run around or anything...i already have a very energetic dog, i want to get whatever breed suits my needs as well as my other dogs needs...i'm well aware of health info and everything, just never get to see them play or anything..no one seems to have any around here for me to study...

If you're unexperienced, I would suggest you go for a newfie. Mastiffs are great dogs and wonderful companions, but definitely no dogs for beginners.
Newfies will be just fine. Very social and with an open attitude. Prank |

Newie's like St B's are best suited to cooler climates. Both of these breeds like long walks and some play time, but both have trouble trying to keep cool in the warmer weather. Mastiff's have a short coat and can handle the warmer weather easier. You say that you have a very energetic dog already ( small or large?)

Hi there. Talking to many experienced women with dogs,, a Boxer is like a sex-mashine, but personaly I don't like the sloppy and dribbling face. It depends what you needs are. German shepherds are likely to get you involved emotionaly.

Given a choice between the two I would suggest Newfies. There is a wide range of variability in specific breeds of mastiff and their attendant expected activity levels. Newfies despite their awesome size are relatively active, and having labrador roots in them should make the more responsive to training and education. As has been cited already, mastiffs of just about any breed should not be your furst time dog as a dog owner.

i currently have a male in tact pitbull, but he's only 3 months old, he is going to be a big boy...he's very handsome, but sadly i don't think pitbulls are "big" enough to satisfy me, but i got him because of his personality, not just because i wanted a sex partner..i'm a bit of a size queen and i like a dog that won't be such a couch potato all the time, but can snuggle up to me at night..not to mention can keep up with and socialize with my other dog as well as have major assets ;)
