I tend to have a bit of a scientific mind and so I tend to question the things around me.
So I have been thinking about this for quite some time now. I want to know scientifically, neurologically, pathologically, psychological, what makes a Beastie a Beastie. I want to know how and why a person would become a beastie. If you would like to please add some of your theories and personal reasons for becoming a beastie to this thread please do. The human mind is the greatest mystery. |

I think its part of our instinct I have read in a textbook that its theorized that somewhere in our brain its hardwired to be attracted to something different to increse our genetic variability. I have heard that we are aroused by smells that signify a mate of a varying genetic difference. Meaning the closer you are related you should not find the said female attractive. I think in some of us its just stronger instinct to mate with members outside our species. The other part of me wonders if it isnt just an outgrowth of evolution. You dont want a family tree with no branches.

I assume that by "beasty" you actually mean "zoophile", that is, a loving, trusting relationship between a human and an animal that may but does not have to include sexual underpinnings.
If so, I can add something here. I have a wonderful marriage with a human woman, but I must admit that my dog (and dogs in general) emotionally give me more. I've had bad experience with people in my younger days; for a long time, a dog (not ours) was my only friend. He gave me the feeling of being wanted, loved. He was the only reason for me to keep sane. Since he had it bad too with his owner, I returned the emotions and played the same role for him, to some extend. The relationship was very deep, but never sexual. So now, and probably for the rest of my life, I look at dogs as emotional creatures that give me stability, unconditional love and never-betrayed trust. Something I find ever so rarely in humans. I think my story is sort of a role model for many zoos. Making very bad experience with humans, you might look at other creatues you can belong. Dogs and horses are very good candidates because they have a way of communicating with us (and vice versa). Prank |

What he said... But the thing is that we really don't understand sexuality yet. So wanting a straight forward reason and definition is, at this time, impossible. But here's what I think it would be... Zoophilia would be akin to say, Homosexuality, or Bisexuality. Something in the brain that draws us to something else besides the opposite sex in not just a physical but emotional connection. While strict bestiality would be more like those fetishes we all have. Leather, bondage, S&M. All those aspects OF sexuality that turns us on even though we don't quite know why. We're just turned to animals in a sexual attraction. Primal lust and all that. But again, human sexuality is still a large mystery. We're really just now finding that sexuality is genetic, however much people want to disagree... So the exact reason one person swings for the same sex, and another a different species all together is far off from being known. EDIT* jasperct, the rules are very clear about relating to personal experiences as a minor. I would suggest you omit the age in your post before you find yourself in trouble with a mod. Personally, I think that science must be recognised for what it is, tentative. What was scientific "fact" 10 years ago is bogus today.
I've always felt that the classical argument of "nature vs. nurture" is wrong purely because it limits itself to only two possibilities without considering others. So, perhaps it can be shown that a person is genetically pre-disposed to a particular behaviour, nature proponents will yell, "You see! We were right!". Until of course someone comes across genetically identical people (identical twins) with different behaviours, then the nurture people will yell, "You see! We were right! One was treated as the elder, the other as the younger, and this explains the difference even though there's no genetic difference!" I think that people are able to choose on a fundamental level. Certain factors will influence your choice of course, but I don't think that ultimately anyone can choose for you, be that your parents, or your genetics. This is a rather unpopular, though liberating view. I got into bestiality 'cause I one day accidentally saw a picture of a woman shagging eels would you believe it? Not something that I'm interested in today, 'cause I don't want the eels hurt. Something about it though really turned me on. I thought about it and I came to the conclusion that the concept of a woman using a living creature to turn them on blew my mind at that point (me being a highly sexually-frustrated virgin at that point). The biggest surprise I guess is that now that I have a fair amount of (human) experience, and a few notches on my bedpost, and eventually a wife and 2 daughters, I still find the concept of a woman shagging an animal a huge turn on. So, to answer your question, I guess I like bestiality 'cause I choose to like it. Other people choose not to like it, but they generally respect my choice (like my wife, but then she's into stuff that I'm not). There's lots of stuff I'm not into, like scat, but I respect those that are into it. If you like it, and you're comfortable with liking it, then there's no problem. As long as it's all consensual, then it's all good, in my book. |

As for me it's rather simple. I always had strong feelings toward dogs and they became stronger and stronger over the years. At one point the sexuality just followed and I turned completely toward them..

,what lovethymare said for me too. Allways had a strong attraticion to horses, working around and with them on a daily basis also helped. It just seemed,at the time,a natural step to take, making it with a mare. |

For me, it wasn't something I expected. I mean I snooped around the net out of curiousity when I was younger. Then, when I turned of age and moved out with Sunwheat was when I first took a risk and let him lick me. At the time I had dated various girls/guys and only my best friend ever felt close to the right one. But it just grew in me, and I started feeling that no one I dated was right. I wasn't satisfied, in fact I was depressed. Then I just...I don't know gave in...went with it. And knew once I did that it felt right for me, and that I wanted this.

Organism in environment, a combination of genetic instructions influenced by external stimuli and internal direction. There can be no generalization as to what makes us us. While there may be similarities in how it came to be for a person, everyone had their own experiences that affected them and lead them to this place.
Many seem to have been abused or social outcasts and found relief in animals, some simply have the fetish, some get more out of a relationship with one of another species, et cetera. Physico-neurologically speaking, the mechanics of attraction are as complex and unique as the organism itself. In seemingly all cases of zoophilia/beastiality there is something to be gained by the human (usually the animal as well), so one could abruptly narrow it down to saying that people try to improve their lives by whatever means possible, and if animals are the way to do that, so be it. |

Why did I become a beastie? Well, I don't think I became, I think it has always been there (what with me being easily aroused by nonhuman animals), but I only noticed it recently. But that's not the answer you wanted, was it?
How did I come to realise I was a beastie, that's another story. A friend in Spain mentioned once he was a zoophile. I was revolted back then - but also curious. So when I received a link to a gallery of mating animals, I decided to take a look. Soon I was downloading page after page of mating animals pictures, and looking for more. It was just a short step from that to beast porn. If instead you intended to ask why did I become sexual with an animal, well, I had read the "Animal Sex Guides", I was horny at the moment, so I thought - why not? And it just kinda happened. Why, I don't know. |

My friend you nailed my thoughts right on the head. As for my two cents, I would have to second the 'instinct' path that's been said here. When you get right down to it, we're animals, just like the rest of life on earth, and animals + animals = ... Well... More animals. ;). And after so long of Canines and Equines being some of the closest friends to humankind, no doubt we've made an attachment to them on a much, much deeper level than say a species that we have had less time to evolve with, say Felines or Reptiles. |

To quote Romanescu: "Why did I become a beastie? Well, I don't think I became, I think it has always been there".
It never occurred to me that I was any different from other people and it was a surprise to me that others did not indulge! When the men on the farm made jokes about it I thought it was something THEY did on a regular basis. It was almost a shame to realise that they had NEVER experienced such relationships, as far as I know!!! It was as normal to me as drinking and I never questioned the legalities or morality of the situation, I still don't and am happy with the situation. Pokerman |
