I am Curious,. .
I had heard from a friend in the vetrinary field that humans should limit contact with thier dogs when sick, because the k9 disease, (distemper) can mask its self like a "flu" in Humans. Has anyone else heard of this? I am just curious.,. .Because, for those people that have multipul animal partners, I'd hate to think of some of them as "Gift-givers". I couldn't think of a worse Idea than having some person carrying a possible disease and giving it to a dog, when its being, groomed, boarded,. . etc. Am I wrong in thinking that you should abstain when sick? I can speak from personal experience that when I'm sick. .I crawl into a hole and feel sorry for myself and sex is usually the farthest thing from my mind. . But hmmmm. .curious as to the thoughts of others. Peace. . Lone. |

Yes, I have heard of many people getting sick via dog illnesses or vice versa my friend lost her husky after the dog snuck in and slept next to her one night when she had a very bad case of flu, well the dog became very sick with flu to a stage where he was too weak to recover and lost him.
I NEVER handle my animals when I'm ill particually my rats when I have a cold I would be devistated if I lost them ue to me being ill. I am also carefull and makes sure all my animals have thier injections from my dog with vaccinations of parvo shots and distemper to my cat for flu and otehr viruses as I also don't wnat something you get from cats called Cat scratch fever. I usually hide in bed when i'm ill and defintly like you sex is the last thing on my mind. |

Diseases can jump from one species to the other, I don't know the particulars of flu and distemper, but to give you my two cents, spanish flu of 1915 which wiped out about 1/3 of human population came from pigs flu, and the avian flu in fad nowadays in asia can in theory, if the cootie learns how to jump from human to human send about 50% of us to meet the great creator... the big problem with interspecific infections is that the new species has no or very little defenses for the new bug, and that the cootie can mutate in the new host and become devastating for both species.
on the other hand, the chances for a bug to jump are relatively low, as the fact that if a human bites you, the bite has about three times as much chance of becoming infected than if it was a dog. just as safety meassure, do not treat your animals when you have a highly infectious disease like flu. |
