I was walking with my dog to the dog park today which is about a 45 minute walk each way. About 5-10 minutes away from the park we saw an un-neutered bulldog wondering around the neighborhood with an outdated tag (disconnected phone number, no address). I could have taken him home for a few hours to figure out what to do and we could have played. I love dog balls and I have never really gotten to play with a dog that came a lot. I also have been thinking very recently that it's been way too long since a dog with balls has been in my place. I have learned some new things I want to try too. however, I kept asking around and somebody suggested I tell him to "go home" and he did... leading me right to a specific home where he seemed to live. he seemed to be very hot (as in panting, not meaning sexy) and worn out and I didn't know if he could make the walk to my place. It's possible he could have overheated, he wasn't in the best physical shape but not horribly obese either.

Its kinda hard to answer this with the way you asked your vote question. Your poll question contridicts itself by asking two different questions with only one yes and no answer. In other words if I voted yes, I would be saying, yes you should have done him, but yes you didn't do the right thing. Im not trying to be a hard ass or anything. All Im saying is your your poll is unclear.

My personal opinion (I know some people will disagree) Is that it's wrong to have relations with someone else's dog. That is unless you have the owner's consent, and have known the dog for a long time, and developed a friendship with it. I.E. it's your boyfriend's/girlfriend's dog.

I don't know, I would just feel really grossed out and violated if a stranger ever laid a hand on my German Shepard boy. I would probobly press charges.

I was thinking that doing the right thing = no
in other words if you voted no, you'd be agreeing with my choice.
I can't edit the poll.

(shouldn't this be in the zoo section?)

Anyway, I think you did the right thing by taking the dog to it's home. Personally I believe in spending time with the dog, earning it's friendship and trust for a couple days before going any further. If the dog was momentarily lost or wandering, it wouldn't be fair to the owners to keep their dog, even if for a little while. Meh.. just my opinion.

perhaps I was unclear, he wasn't homeless... just wondered away from home. I did find where he lived but it took a little while.

I agree with the other's here. Taking him to his rightful home, was the smartest move you could do and the responsible one as well. Also, like Rus said, checking up on him, would not be a bad idea, as you said his overall condition wasn't the best.

I'm not really familiar with the breed, I think he was fat, but maybe that was just a lot of excess skin and fur. I haven't seen him since and I hope i don't unless it is in the back yard looking out towards the street behind the fence or in the window.

I want to congratulate you on doing the right thing! I know it is tempting to take him home and play. I know I would be tempted if a male dog came round my way. But how would one of us feel if it were one of our dogs that was lost? We would feel worried and upset, that's how we would feel. We would be upset and would want to have our dog back to us as soon as possible. You absolutely did the best thing by getting the dog home as soon as possible.

Good work! Here's 10 vote for you. :)

i agree you did the right thing, taking him home .if it was one of my girls that got lost i wouldnt want some one playing around with her .with out knowing its back round or building any kind of trust or relationship you could have gottin hurt .knowing the breed dont tell you how it will react to sex things .also if you finde a lost dog you dont know what it might have .if you cant finde a tag they are putting tattoos on the inside of there ears now and also chipping them any vet has a chip reader and will read it for free .take care ,mop.
