She was late on several reports by a few minutes and finally missed having her lunch break altogether. After the lunch break Carol dropped off another report that needed typing and filing before the end of the day. Lae looked up and without thinking twice responded. "You know I have six of your reports that are suppose to be typed up and on your desk before five pm. Now you stick another report on my desk and expect it to have the same deadline.. well I am telling you right now.. I am not your secretary or your flunky.. I am sick of you pawning off your work to me or anyone else because you feel that you are better then the rest of us. So I'll tell you what.. you take that report and you do it yourself.. and I'll think about getting these other reports finished after I take a ten minutes break since you made damned sure that I couldn't take my lunch break." Before Carol could say anything Lae walked away from her desk and into the break room. Thankfully no one followed her or they would have seen her break down and start crying. Lae had never stood up to Carol or anyone before and it rattled her conscious and her nerves. All she could hope for now was to pull herself back together enough to make it through the rest of the day and hopefully have some replies to her post. |

| Lae worked hard after returning to her desk, she still was shaking inside from being so provoked to such anger. Carol had wisely avoided her the rest of the day hoping that she would at least get three of those reports before five pm as her own ass was in a sling with a district manager. Still Lae turned on her small radio playing some mellow jazz while she started typing the reports. It was the only way Lae would make it through the rest of the evening without cracking again. Carol grew more worried as three thirty arrived and still no files were placed on her desk. She asked another worker to check on Lae's status and he returned with no answer as Lae snapped at him. The day trudged on and Lae was aching inside to just get up and leave when five o'clock came but the reports were staring back at her. Then she asked herself what really was making her stay.. she wasn't going to get paid for staying late so why do it. That was when she took action, she moved things around and started to get ready to leave. Carol noticing that Lae was coming out of her small station walked over and asked for the reports. "Well they are sitting on top of the finish tomorrow pile.. if you need them help yourself.. I'll see you all on Monday." Lae slipped on her coat and headed out of the office , taking the elevator down and catching the city bus to the park-n-ride then home. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Lae tossed her coat into the closet and walked into the kitchen checking her messages. She laughed as all six were from Carol venting that the reports were unfinished and if she didn't come complete them not to bother coming back. Lae picked the phone up when it rang and Carol was ranting once more about the reports. "Look, you have no intention of paying me for the overtime it would have taken to finish those reports. You bugged me all afternoon about YOUR reports.. I had my own reports to take care of. I told you that I was not your secretary and you still tried to pawn off more of your work on me. Well I had enough.. so if you want to fire me .. great.. I'll be in tomorrow to pick up my pay check for 40 hours and 62 hours of overtime.. and if it isn't there I'll call the branch office and you can explain my time card to them that I sent on Monday." Carol was not daunted in the slightest but told her that she could get her check in two hours. That was not a good sign as it took longer then that to get there by car unless she drove to the office the back way and she was not going to miss the chance to get her check. Carol was afraid that Lae would call her bluff and did what she had to.. called the accountant and had him prepare the check for 40 hours plus 62 overtime also to include Lae's quarterly bonus that was to be given out after the fifteenth. Before seven-thirty Carol had the check for twelve ninty-nine and was praying that Lae did not come thru the door before eight pm. Lae walked into the building and went straight to her old office. "I'm here for my last check." Once the check was in her hand she dropped the keys to the door and filing cabinet into Carol's hand, turned around and walked out not looking back. But once she was back in her car she began to cry cause she didn't have something to look forward to doing anymore. Now her drive home was sullen and depressing. |

| Guess I should put something for my part in this to keep updated for his life so here we go. And yes it'll be more active when the two meet. Westley sat at his office chair looking out over his farm. In his hands was a farm report of what animals was ready for breeding and what was already breed. Sighing he tossed the papers down on his desk and leaned back closing his eyes. | Lae sat down in front of her computer when she arrived back home. She had berated herself most of the drive at becoming completely unemployed and her huge check would not last more then a few months. Reaching that he picked up the hose there and turned the water on there. Letting it run into a barrel he had cut in half he sighed looking at his watch seeing it was 11:05 and knew he still had to fix food for himself and his guest. Finishing the watering he cut it off and went towards the house. Entering the house he pulled his clothes off and stepped into the shower and began to wash himself off. | I would like to apologize to everyone that waited to hear a reply on my behave. After some of my very last posts on here my computer gave me some problems. The problems ending in my having to go to a library to check emails upon which I tried to stay in touch with landi, but a library is never a place to have in depth emails wrote. Plus either they quit sending or something cause I had a few people not get any I'd send, but they'd send me something and I'd get it so who knows.
